Why do people always bring up machine guns?

Same reason people say kleenex when they mean tissue, or pork when they mean unidentified-meat-served-at-chinese-restaurant.

They aren't trying to be precise.

But that would be like calling a Clorox disinfectant wipe a Kleenex. Sure, you could wipe your nose with it, but I doubt it's going to go well for you.

It also annoys the shit out of me when people call an armored car a "tank." For example, I once read a news report that said something to the effect of, "Police use tanks on protesters at oil pipeline."

A tank has a big ass gun on it. An armored car does not. Seems pretty simple.

If you are going to go around correcting everyone's incorrect usage of words, you aren't going to have time for much else in life.

At least that's how it's worked out for me.

Not that I have any regrets. The battle continues!

I'm no gun expert, I just knew the definition of assault rifle because it's been in the news recently.

And you think the news media has the correct definition of an "assault rifle"?

Please tell me you don't believe that nonsense.

I'm not an expert on constitutionality, so I'm not so sure if this is the right decision or not from that perspective. But, just from a logistical perspective I don't really see a ban like this actually making a difference in reducing gun violence. I am a liberal on many issues, but this doesn't seem like it's likely to actually help. I wouldn't mind seeing gun locks/safes required (to own) if you have guns. I think there are a lot of things that we could concentrate on that would make a much stronger impact on gun violence than banning assault rifles.

bullshit....I can joke about machine guns...I'm a war vet and I've actually shot one...I simply said at 63 I've never needed one....and that's the truth ...unless you're a liberal, you probably don't have a clue what they love to talk about...my guess, not guns much
Youre a war vet but youve never needed a gun? Did you just spark up doobies with the enemy?

Absolutely agree, except for the requirement for Safes. And most guns already come with locks, or are far easier to purchase than an entire Safe.

As for the rest of your post, I agree. Just addressing education, introducing positive community influences (such as after-school activities), and introducing jobs into the inner-cities would dramatically reduce gang violence, which is the leading cause of crime where a firearm is used. So yes, there are other things that we can do to address this issue more appropriately.

Yep. Every gun ive purchased came with a lock. I also agree you cant require a gun safe. But i sure am glad i got mine. Crime rate is insane in my area and i didnt want to be that poor sap that got robbed and his guns were used by thugs to do illegal shit. At night i open the safe incase of an intruder i can snag anything i want on my way out of the bedroom and i can leave everything loaded and lock the safe when i leave.

What I meant by lock/safe is that every gun owner should be required to have the ability to lock up each gun they own. So, if they have 12 guns, they could have a safe that holds 12 guns, or they could have 12 locks, or 4 locks and an 8 gun safe. We can't really legislate that they keep every gun locked because they may have one unlocked for a purpose, but if they have the ability to lock up each gun, they are much more likely to use them and hinder children or those without right/permission to access those guns. I also like the idea of requiring greater training for those with carry licenses. I think we need to do a greater job of keeping those with mental issues from obtaining guns. I love the idea of more after school programs, more sports, arts, sciences... Keep kids learning and growing.

I would like to get a Tikka T3 30-06 with a nice Leupold scope for hunting. No need for an AR personally.

That's beautiful! Well done bro!

This. Magpul is just head and shoulders above everyone else. I think I have a Magpul mag for my AK, and it's never failed me.

Or it might be a Tapco mag.....and I definitely have some Bulgarian waffle mags in my bag somewhere...

Id like to thank @dviss1 for making this thread and motivating me to finally make my purchase. You the fucking man, sir!

Indeed, all things are possible through our Lord and Savior Dviss. Amen.

Just screwed the pressure switch to the light on the foregrip and discovered the foregrip is hollow and seems to have a holder for 2 123 batteries. Just fucking genius engineering. That light is bright as fuck. It fucking better be at over $100 by itself. Cant wait to hit the range next week!

@Natebishop3 knows how to convert that over to a full auto airsoft gun.

Yeah, many ARs have hidden compartments for batteries, depending on if your furniture supports it. Tango Down sells forward grips that are waterproof and sealed.
