Stoked for Damon, he has a great relationship with Udoka and has a had a decent amount of experience with the Grizzlies, Memphis Tigers, Wildcats and since '16 with the Pacific Tigers.

The players seem to really like him and regardless of some personal opinions of people here, he is turning into be a really good coach

If you read the tweet from Powell he is saying his friend needs a HEAD coaching gig also he is the lead assistant under nurse so i doubt he coming to Portland.

Vinny Del Negro has such a weird career path:

Del Negro worked as a radio commentator for the Phoenix Suns before being promoted to director of player personnel for the Suns in 2006.[3] In 2007, the Suns promoted him to the position of assistant general manager.[4]

Radio commentator --> Director of Player Personnel --> Assistant GM --> Head Coach????

Never seen that sort of career progression before. Not as crazy as Olshey's actor to GM move since at least Del Negro played in the NBA. But I do find it odd that he's not been able to (or hasn't wanted to) get a coaching gig since 2013. Eight years is a lot of time and I wonder if the game has passed him by at this point.

Also, Olshey hired him as the head coach of the Clippers in 2010. It was one of Olshey's first moves as the Clippers GM. Maybe it's not that crazy that this is the first time in awhile his name has popped up in the coaching circles... Neil always gets his guys.
