...what a series...every game was intense...coulda been a sweep but I'll take it !
...Yanx seem to be gaining confidence.
Definitely gotta' be a confidence booster....!
Now I just hope this is not a tease & they end up laying down for Cleveland.

this is a better team, and i think cashman deserves more credit from some a uzzzze, considering that the big names, which were very few, don't see the yankees as a championship team right now and wanted elsewhere. He found a few players who are decent contributers..... lets go yanks do some damage!!!

my goodness, i don't recall callin joe an idiot, if i did i apologize, my pisan blood must have gotten the better of me...
just to be clear, i don't respect coaches who don't get on his players, joe is an enabler, case & point tex.... 1 nite while playin the giants, fouled 1 off plate came back hit me right in mouth, no damage to tooth but it came through my bottom lip. finished AB cause bases were juiced, drew a walk got a ribbie for team, that nite recieved 8 stitches to face, on field next day ready to play. made charlie hayes proud. Another situation, jim jones catcher for the A's threw a ball out of frustration 100miles an hour into my chest as i crossed the plate, his own fans booed him on my behalf, and that ain't easy coming from northen california fans, the usual were batteries and coins thrown at you, and beers, with police escourts!!! had a black and blue the size of a soft ball on chest, swelling, and was on filed next day for play... pro athletes play hurt IMO! its what seperates the men from the boys joe coddles his players too much for me
You can repeat it until the cows come home but there's no way a manager can force a player to play hurt. We really have no idea what Girardi does behind closed doors. If you're expecting Reggie Jackson vs Billy Martin fights in the dugout circa 1978 that's not going to happen these days.
...well stated, and I've essentially been saying this for quite awhile...the game of today has evolved into a completely different animal than the one we knew many years ago...all managers "coddle" their players, because teams and their owners want to protect their investments. If you commit several millions of dollars to a player/s, that player gets paid whether he plays or not and so it behooves management to ensure those high dollar players spend as much time on the field as possible...and if they try to rush an injured player back too quickly it can easily turn into something that will ultimately keep them out of the line up even longer.
...you can't compare today's players to minor leaguers or to players that played before free agency...it's just not the same.
...simply put, if you need to rest a player and let them heal for a 2-3 games and give them a better chance of performing up to their abilities, you do it. We may complain about Tex for example, but there is no disputing that the Yanx are a MUCH better team defensively when he plays than anyone else they can put out there. I'd rather him miss games now than in October. (if they get that far)
...what ?...where did he say or imply anything like that?
...rick, I'm talking about this thread...what someone has said in the past in a different thread about a completely different subject is irrelevant to what we were talking about in this thread...we were talking about players playing hurt, and it has nothing to do with "the shift". The term "shift" was not uttered once in this thread, and you said you "knew what he was talking about"...and he was not talking about the shift.
...just sayin'.
...Maddon is a very good skipper, but if the manager is so crucial, why are the Rays 10 games out?...the Yanx are only 5.5 game out.
...does this mean that Girardi is 4.5 games better than Maddon? ...derp.
...wtf?....Girard IS NOT an idiot !...stay on topic.
u can argue that a coach is not crucial to a team, but then you have the phil jackson case.... the bulls and the lakers had the best players in the world, they couldn't get it done until the final piece of the puzzle was put in place, and jackson was it, yes or no?

i have heard that said a 1000 x's, it still does not guarantee u a ring, shaq & kobie were together b4 jackson got to LA, they demanded he be coach.... hes not called the "zen master" fir nuttin
He'd also say, "back on your Zabutons, its not time for Kin Hin"
Is this staff short or tall....? said the 'Zen Master to his student.."answer short, tall, long, small, and I shall whack you with this staff 100 times, if you don't answers 1000 whacks,....now quick which is it.......?
now personally, I'd take the staff out of his hands, whack him with it, and say: now why do you ask me such stupid Questions....?
That IS the real Koan Breaker..........!!!
Just ask me, "I don't know nothing".....but I did study with Taizan Maezumi Zenji, and others; drunk from the deep clear still wells of Eihei Dogen Zenji, for most my life.....long before Phil was making lay ups himself as a mediocre player, n student of the game....not braggin, just the facts.....
