and no doubt, Jackson, picked his landing wisely.......

tho' I'll give him his 2nd City kudos, L.A. he stepped into a formula he already wanted to be apart of ...... like Riley in Miami, et al....less I'd say lets give 'em chi-town...his credit, Jackson put together a light show with the Bulls............just sayin

What did I miss, who called Girardi an idiot in this thread? I know it wasn't me.

...Girardi has been called "an idiot" in the past and since the coddling comment came up, I thought it applied to that comment.

u can argue that a coach is not crucial to a team, but then you have the phil jackson case.... the bulls and the lakers had the best players in the world, they couldn't get it done until the final piece of the puzzle was put in place, and jackson was it, yes or no?

...no one, and I mean no one said that a coach is not important...and why are you comparing managing a basketball vs managing a baseball team ? Comparing Phil f'n Jackson to Joe Girardi ?...what happened to Joe Maddon?

...but I'll ask again, and maybe I'll get a semi-coherent response this time;

1. You think that Maddon is a very good manager.

2. You think that Girardi is a very bad manager.

3. If that's true, please explain the disparity between the Yanx' record and the Rays' record.

I know you're not asking me but, IMO Maddon has a lot more to work with this season & yet Girardi has the better results. The answer should be obvious.

1-Yes

2-No

whats the difference the sport when it comes to how a coach handles his players?

who said girardi was a very bad manager?

girardi has a 200 million pay roll beginning 2014 while tampa bay has 77 mill..... how does maddon have more to work with?

kobie and shag went to ownnership and demanded jackson, how did jackson pick his battle there?

rick, again f the injures, all teams have them, the yankees still have had enough to win even with them....

At the time no fewer than 4 other teams were inquiring about Jackson services but they didn't have superstar players. Jackson PICKED the best place where he had a chance to win.

NTM- Dr. Buss more than wined and dined him, even gave his daughter to him....

Made him an offer he could not refuse, tho' no way Phil was gonna' not want to coach the Shaq-Kobe Lakers.....Jackson has been able to pick his landings with precision, since his glory years with De Bulls.....that time alone cemented him in infamy, the rest was all frills, while adding even more legendary a great Coach.....

I liked Pat Riley's Lakers, (uhm, I should say Jerry West's led-Riley Lakers), better than the Kobe-Shaq B.S.

least Magic, Kareem, Worthy, Coop, vs. Bird and Crew, were some of the more exciting NBA shows I've ever seen on Earth.....

Then again, I loved the Bucs led Lew Alcindor, Oscar Robertson, vs. West and Wilt the Stilt, one of my fav Championships. The Rookie skinny kid beat the Big Vet.....Oscar out shot the great West....
