I would hope we would offer something like this for Paul George (doesn't hurt to offer):
Mo, Turner and Vonleh (who played at Indiana, so they might have a soft spot for him) plus whatever picks for George and Ellis (whom we immediately waive).

Basically we offer everyone but Lillard and CJ (and Nurk, because he can't be traded as part of a package) and two or three picks. Why not? Then we have a mini-Golden State scenario and all we need is our Draymond...

David Aldridge said we have a shot at anyone we want with all these picks....

Jimmy Butler
Paul George
Paul Milsap (too old)
Hassan Whiteside

Who am I missing?

If New Orleans has Cousins, we need to get better to stay in the playoff picture.
Of these 4 players I would take Milsap, maybe George, the other two are not as good.

The playoff picture next year? Yeah. This year? No.

And you say WE overvalue our players? There's no way on god's green earth Indiana even considers that, even with the picks.

+3 picks? really? I'd say we're giving up to much. Monta is hot garbage and we'd be doing them a favor.

I actually think it is reasonable if Indiana's goal was to get young, rebuild and dump Monta.
The 3 draft picks being the key.
Vonleh and Harkless are decent young assets. Leonard is really the only obstacle.

Hmm... I don't see that for Indiana. I mean, rebuild, yeah... but I would think they would get someone who at least could lead them in the rebuild a little bit, and none of those would do it... it would be a clusterfuck IMO

Do you think Indy would really want Turner back?
Forgot they had him! He's bounced around. He's better now!
Okay fine. Offer Crabbe.
Okay fine. We're not getting him, are we? Sigh.
I bet the Lakers could get him if they wanted.

All right, fine. We're prepared to include Jake "the next Bird" Layman in our Paul George trade. That should clinch it.

It would be a nice package for a rebuilding team. Three first rounders in a guard heavy draft a several wing/bigs who can shoot, and at a slight cost savings.

The main piece it is missing is the centerpiece. There is no top five pick or single really coveted player going out from Portland. It is a nice collection of pieces. In the end, it may still be the best Indiana gets. It does make me think that they may wait until the end of the season to see what Portland's pick actually ends up being. It feels more like a summer trade than a mid-season one.

Yeah I forget that our pick would probably not be in the lottery if we added George, but they might be able to move up using them in a trade.

Do you think the Bulls would go for this?

Portland: Jimmy Butler

Chicago: Allen Crabbe, Our 2017 1st, Memphis 1st

My main question is how could we pressure Indy the way we might have done with Denver/Philly? We have these three picks and if they could be used to get another PG-like player then you might be able to get it done now. Otherwise why would Indy be motivated to trade now?

Very doubtful. Crabbe's contract is a killer. Teams who are blowing it up by trading their sole star will want young and cheap talent. A guy like Vonleh would be perfect if he were actually good.

How on Earth is Portland doing them a favor in that deal when they're sending Meyers--someone who's at least as terrible as Ellis, paid as much per year and is signed for an extra year? Even if you say Meyers and Ellis cancel out (and, IMO, Meyers is the worse deal due to the extra year), 3 non-premium picks, Vonleh and Harkless in no way adds up to an All-NBA-caliber player in his prime.

Fine, lets see what happens with PG. I doubt that he will re-sign, so they will trade him in the next year. I bet you they don't get a better offer than 10,20,27 in a good draft plus a solid nba starter or lets even say borderline starter.

All right. Are we agreed that an offer with a top-five pick trumps that?

Regarding players, we'll have to evaluate when the trade happens. If it happens.

Just a thought on what Aldridge said. He didn't say the Blazers could get any player in the NBA with those picks, he said they could get any player they are after using those picks.... It's a subtle difference but the difference is real. We really don't know what Neils "plan" is we just have our own individual ideas of what it should be. In other words Neil might not be after Butler and George.
