This sounds like Sacramento and Boogie. Why would you give up on a 23-year-old with his numbers? Don't think he is worth the max you will have to give him?
You will have to give him? They already gave it to him.

oh yeah, I thought he was a year back. Then it really doesn't make sense to me.
They are just getting impatient like a lot of teams. Wanting a change for the sake of change. It would take a lot for them to make a move though.

I'm not going to get my hopes up about getting Butler or George. Sounds too good to be true. And as a fellow Blazers fan, I am used to getting my hopes pissed on. I would love for either to happen though. I would send all of our picks, Crabbe and Ezeli's expiring for either of those guys. We would instantly get a lot better. There is no doubt about that. I'm just trying to personally downplay the idea of it so I don't get pissy when it doesn't happen.
I agree.

I am starting to get my hopes up on a discount priced Okafor though.

OK SO
he likes dame's game
he also wants to play on a winning team

at this point this team isn't showing that we are much better than his current team

so it would come down to, does he see the blazers as a team that would make that leap with him coming here?
If we did not give up Dame or CJ or Nurkic, yes, we would make that leap by adding George and subtracting whoever it takes to get him. But is that even possible? If not, the leap, if any, might not be enough.

"Teams trading for George run the risk of losing the four-time All-Star to a Lakers franchise that will have the salary-cap space to sign him in 2018. The Lakers’ hiring of Magic Johnson as president of basketball operations will be an interesting twist to George’s free-agent recruitment, given that Johnson has been something of a George family icon going back to George’s childhood in nearby Palmdale, Calif."

Ya getting him would be a calculated risk. The hope is that he would see a trio of Dame/CJ/himself as providing enough of a winning potential than anything LA has to offer.

Sidebar: he's represented by an agent who we made very rich this past summer (Aaron Mintz). Mintz also represents Crabbe and Leonard.

Who knows how interested the Lakers would be with PG13 in over a year? Depending on their drafts and development of Ingram, they may want to a different direction and not break the bank on an aging SF.

I'd take Butler over George, if only so I don't have to see or hear him referred to as "PG13."

That's a good point. They do love ingram

Lol "aging." He'll be in the prime of his career next summer.

Crabbe, Harkless, Leonard, three firsts for George and salary dump of Jefferson or Monta. That's a good offer for a guy that may easily walk next summer.

Some other 2018 Free Agents: Boogie, LeBron, LaMarcus, DeAndre Jordan, Isaiah Thomas, Westbrook (if we walks from player option), Avery Bradley, Brook Lopez, Wes Matthews, among others.

I wouldn't think a 30-year-old PG would be the first target for the Lakers. It will be PG's last massive contract, and I bet he will go with whoever can pay the most and still field a competitive team.

Offer three picks and a player or two, and if that fails consider offering CJ (as much as I love him). It's a 1.5-year rental though so maybe tanking for top 10 pick and getting Jackson or Isaac would work better long term.
Rental shmental. We always use that excuses for not going for all stars that just might be available. No wonder way we don't ever win.

Man all those guys you listed are also in PGs age range if not older lol.

Yes, but they those player will fit their needs more, particularly PF and C positions.

Ingram will have got better by 2018 and they seem to see big future in him and there is a very good chance they get one of Jackson or Isaac this Summer. If they do, PG will not fit there.

I'm talking about the Lakers making a push for PG in 2018. Not his age fit with the Blazers. I'd be all for taking a chance on acquiring and resigning him.
I think the protest is that you called him a "30-year-old PG13", but he will only be 28 in the summer of 2018. 2 years is actually a pretty big difference.

Unless PHI is involved somehow there is almost no way to trade CJ until this summer and make the math work.

I think the shock Boogie trade has us thinking that there's going to be a flood of stars moving, and there just isn't. Unless you count maybe Derrick Rose.

I've actually created several trades involving CJ that work under the cap without involving Philly. Or Denver. Or Brooklyn.

It just requires like $50M in salaries changing teams in each direction.

I'll blame the flu I'm fighting off for getting his age wrong. Nonetheless PG says is looking to win and I doubt the Lakers can turn things around enough in one year to attract him. The West is too tough for a quick rebuild with their lack of assets. He also plays the same position of their most promising rookie. PG signing there is essentially saying he'll write off competing for a title as his enters final big contract to be the next Carmelo, playing out his final elite years on an perennial doormat. I have a tough time seeing that, and I feel the Lakers are often used as leverage by agents with no sincere intention of sending their guys there.
