I'm honestly not that worried about it right now. I thought it was a very strange setting for an introduction. Usually Joe and Chauncey are there to field some questions first. They didn't set him up for success in that environment.
Maybe they will do an official press conference at summer league or after it. Was there a picture of him with his jersey?

So the guy is not very likable, he wants to fuck our moms, and the Blazers are cheap and going through the motions. because the press conference did not include his jersey presentation.
Thanks for the update guys.

Yeah, it sounds like a few people were posting from their moms' basements and upset at all the headboard clanging upstairs.

Not that I have seen. So it seems like it's similar to when Ayton got to the practice facility last season, but this time they also threw him in front of the media.

Can you honestly remember them ever doing this before though? When have we ever introduced a new player to the media in an informal setting without Joe/Chauncey and his jersey at the podium? It's just really strange.

Yeah, we think of it as a promotion because Washington is even more shit than us, but Washington is also literally the capitol of the USA and Portland...isn't.

Yeah, we've either let a signing or trade just go under the radar and then get recognized at the beginning of training camp or we have gone all out with the jersey and presser with Joe and Chauncey.

Just a microcosm of this team half assing every fucking thing they're doing right now. No real direction and I didn't give it much thought at first but Joe's easy going attitude sure doesn't seem to help in plotting a clear path to anything (championsip, full on rebuild, etc) for this franchise.

This team doesn’t need a Mr Goodbar.

Heard on Danny Marang radio show from yesterday that Deni flew into Portland from Israel (Tel Aviv). So he was probably all screwed up feeling like it was 3am with the time difference as well as little sleep. So I wouldn't worry if he seemed unenthusiastic or boring in an interview. Doubt any of us would fly to Israel and arrive energetic.

Having business trips there about once every other year, can confirm.

looked a lot like an organization just going thru the motions, but only enough motion to say "well, that's done, what's next?"

there might be a worse ownership in the NBA than Portland's, but I'm having trouble thinking of one. They cheap-screw everything they can and don't seem to care, one bit, about anything but cash flow. And I think that's infected the front office

Why do you think it saved the owner money, for the embarrassed GM & coach to sit upstairs and not show their faces?

This board keeps asking, why did the Bullets trade us such a superstar? Maybe because neither they nor our management consider him a huge talent.

Washington's 4th-best player couldn't "lead" it to winning more than .183, a huge 6 games behind the 2nd-worst season in Blazer history.

Don't expect "potential" in his 5th-year plateau. So he got the introduction appropriate for his talent ceiling, which may have already come and gone.

Bullets, lol, showing your age.

Deni can pass, so can CK. I think that'll end up mattering.

Defensively? What type of match-up do you worry about?

Even before Dario Saric started getting injured, I thought he was wooden and stiff on the 76ers. Everyone thought he was a budding star.

...20 years ago the ESPN board knew me for pulling stat sites out of a hat, but coming to this bigger board intimidated me into relying on you experts. I would guess that Avidja lacks quickness under the basket (only because I don't remember seeing it in the highlights in this thread) to guard the rim. Also on defense, I don't remember the highlights showing him stopping guards, so he's no Rasheed Wallace, who was elastic and bent way over in front of little guys. A good coach can improve players fast, but I don't think we have one. Look at how much Clingan learned last season. Sorry, I'm just a cheerleader nowadays.

Not sure about the rim protection, nor do I care, but his D on guards and forwards looks pretty good to me

careful now...you might get trapped by jlprk satire. With jlprk, Wyachi, & kjironman lurking, we spend a lot of time around here swirling around in a The Onion vortex. Personally, I prefer Mad Magazine

I was more of a Penthouse guy while growing up but I did appreciate Mad Magazine

Can’t wait to see this guy in starting lineup. He’s going to make the game easier for his teammates. Last couple of years all we’ve had are guys that can get their own. Dani is a great defender, really good passer and can shoot.

I really like our nucleus

Scoot
Sharpe
Dani
Ayton/Clinigan

still desperately need a good young PF preferably enforcer type someone who sets the toughness of the team

As long as the enforcer-type player can score. I think we need more of a dynamic scorer at the 4. We have some tough role players like Camara and Walker who can fill the toughness/hustle role, but their offense is lacking. Plus Clingan could evolve into a more physical player.

not sure we need a true scorer, obviously they need to be able to shoot but I want energy enforcer type. We have guys who we assume will be scorers so get me that Jerome Kersey/ Brian Grant / Buck Williams type of player.

I was actually impressed he was so honest about the gamut of emotions that would be normal given the surprise one would have in that situation of unanticipated change.
Right. I think he is just a low key guy who was still in shock about the trade. I certainly don't consider him unlikable.

I believe both Buck and Jerome weighed in at 215 lbs. I know it is more of a mentality than a physical presence, but I think Toumani might be the guy. (Currently listed at 226)

Brian Grant on the other hand was a monster PF at 254lbs. He would almost be a center nowadays.

after watching 3 straight seasons of Blazers getting pummeled, I find it helpful to laugh more then cry.
