I was just going say this. But Ayton and Camara was mostly for Nurk and Little. Dame accounts for some of it with Grayson Allen going to the Bucks, but I think that deal was going to happen anyway.

It's really Deni, RW3 and the swaps. A 2029 pick also went out for Deni.

And given that RW3 is useless. We pretty much traded Damian for Deni and swaps.
Yes a pick went out but we got one for Dame and one for Jrue so we do have a full pick. Basically have part of a swap but a lesser swap out with it. Yes Nurk and Little were sent out too. We also lost two seconds in today's trade.

Not sure who posted it but this does have a lot of vibes of Olshey, trading away multiple picks to acquire a roll playing forward that isn't a difference maker.

Hard to know how many of Olsheys dumb moves over the years had Cronin pulling the strings.

Oh right, so it's basically Deni, a 2029 pick and 2 swaps. The swaps could end up being really good, the bucks are likely to be in a rebuild.

There's an off chance we'll get an asset for RW3, but I doubt anyone will give us a 1st for him.

He is a difference maker though. He's better than anyone we could have gotten at 14. And Brogdon was a goner anyway.

If you're trading with Washington and sending picks out rather than getting them back, it sure seems like you're doing things wrong.

Brogdon actually had a pretty big impact on team success this year, so this move feels like the front office is trying hard to tank in the short-term, while not caring about long-term jobs.

Or, maybe a team among league bottom in 3s and defense used Brogdon to get below the APRON, while simultaneously getting what some of their fans were calling "their best player", who also fits the Scoot/Sharpe timeline.

I agree people don’t realize how good this guy is. He’s a great addition in position of need. Last year in the running for most improved. Guy who guarded other teams best player while still putting up 18 points a game after February. Not to mention a good passer and good rebounder

We traded Dame then Jrue to get basically Brogdon and a couple picks, then dumped the bulk of that to save money. That's not wise handling of assets for a team that needs to build through the draft. And the concept of "best player" and the Wizards doesn't fill me with joy. Those two tend to be mutually exclusive. You want picks from them, not players.

You're missing some assets in your list.
2029 unprotected Bucks pick
2029 unprotected Celtics pick
2028 pick swap with Milwaukee
2030 pick swap with Milwaukee
Rob Will
Deni (now)

I still think we're moving RWIII. And then there's still Camara and Ayton as part of the Dame trade.

One of the videos mentioned that he did all this stuff with JPoole as his point guard....

Isnt he due for an extension?

He just signed one pretty cheap,

Team 2023-24 2024-25 2025-26 2026-27 2027-28
Washington Wizards $6,263,188 $15,625,000 $14,375,000 $13,125,000 $11,875,000

and declining. Started playing really well the 2nd half of last year

A declining contract for a 23 year old player who just came off of ~15/7/4 on 50/37/74 does not suck. Trading out a pick in a Draft where we were NOT taking all 4 picks, including a 30+ year old player we were going to move anyway, and a 2nd best pick in a Draft where we have 3 picks....and that 23 year old is a 6'9" wing who is immediately the 2nd tallest rotation player on the Blazers.....

I am just fine with that. Add to it, Wizard fan is melting down that they didn't get enough.

Young, talented, long, excellent shooting and on a killer contract in exchange for a crappy 2024 pick, a "protected" 2029 frp and an oft injured vet that is of no use to a rebuilding team? Where do I sign?

Wizards tank game is strong! Capture the Flagg!
And Cronin doesn’t have the stones to finish his tank game. He trades for Avdija, an older but probably lesser version of Flagg because he learned after this seasons tank, the ping pong balls don’t always fall your way. He is going to force an Ant, Scoot, Sharpe backcourt. I doubt he tries to move Grant. He signed him. Moving him proves he erred. I could be wrong, but I’m just not getting the vibe that Portland is open for business. I would not be surprised if Thybulle is the starting guard with Ant. I think they will be going for the play in.

good player
great contract

lost a v.good player
gave 2 1sts
One of those picks is from this 2024 draft (#14), which has been panned relentlessly as the worst draft class in a long time. How great a loss is it to give away a pick and not be on the hook for years of guaranteed of salary to someone from the middle of this class?

...& the v.good player (Brogdon) is 31 y/old and has averaged playing in 47 games a season over his last 3 seasons.

Very pleased to add the durable young 2 way player on the upswing at this roster's biggest position of need. It may not work out, but I think this was a great roll of the dice
