Exclusive Ayton is agreeing to buyout

So Lakers use more than the $5.7 tax MLE to sign Ayton and are thus are hard capped.

Actually they have about exactly $5.7 left on the NTMLE for another player - assuming Jake LaRavia signs with bi-annual exception 5.1 million.

I mean Ayton not even getting the full $14 million MLE I think can prove to all the posters here he had zero trade value on a 35.6 million contract - right?

I remember other posters last month arguing with me that we should consider extending or resigning Ayton to be a backup at $20 million per season. Meanwhile he got 8.

He chose winning over money cause I have to assume the Pacers could have gave him more money but now the plan is complete ... muhahaha

Ayton will screw up that locker room and the Lakers will be screwed -- LOL

37 year old Brook Lopez got new 2 year deal for $2 million more
39 year old Horford was just paid more last year (9.5 million)
Jakob Poeltl and Miles Turner both got $18 million more per season and for double the years
Guerschon Yabusele got a similar deal - $2 million less
Clint Capela got about the same $ but for 3 years to be a 3rd string center
Luke Kornet got over 2 million more per year for double the years
Warriors let Kavon Looney walk for the same price

I think we can finally put to rest the idea that Ayton is regarded as a starting level center in the NBA. Many backups were paid more than him. Many 3rd string guys were paid similar.

The ESPN story says that several teams called Joe about Ayton & Joe had nothing but positive things to say about him. Which further proves that Jason Quick is a douche who wrote his slam piece on DA to get clicks.

I don't even care about the money. All I care about is that DA is the Laker's problem now. When he has one of his monster 25/10 games, they'll crow that they stole him from the rest of the league, Portland is so stupid to let him go, all he needed was winners to surround himself with, etc. etc. etc., but they won't say shit when he gets maddingly injured after those few good games hie has and sits his ass on the bench, or disappears for those -20, -25 plus/minus games

Here's a perfect synopsis of this guy:

in a series of 14 games, he had a +/- of 26, -19, -26, 15, 31, 25, and -23

Plays when he wants, fucks around when he wants. Whatever, it's your problem now, Luka and LeBron.

Reminder of why Quick hates Ayton.

This trade makes a lot of sense for both teams though

Just an idea that was floated by Blazers UpRise that we released Ayton so that the Lakers could sign him and then they will trade for Grant.

Would be messed up if it's true and the Lakers suddenly back out on their part.
