Don't get a post with that much venom towards broy. He never quit on us. His body failed him. I wish him luck whereever he goes

A few quotes

"This is a very difficult and painful day," Roy said in a statement released by the team. "I love the game, I love the Portland Trail Blazers and I love our fans, but after consulting with my doctors, I will seek a determination that I've suffered a career ending injury, pursuant to the rules of the collective bargaining agreement."

"My family and health are most important to me and in the end this decision was about them and my quality of life,

All that sounds like total bullshit to me.

This is a guy that came back to play just 6 days after double knee surgery. You'd think some Blazer fans would be more appreciative

Roy: "It was never officially my decision to retire in Portland." Said Blazers doctor said it was best decision because of his knees

Actually it was his own doctor. Fucking liar

It's sort of semantics, but technically weren't the Blazers physicians "his" doctors when he was employed by the team?

Different situations

Only because one guy was well into his 30s and was retiring because he wanted to. By the time Jordan came back, he was nowhere near the player that he was in his final season with the Bulls, and I suspect Roy will be nowhere near the player that he was with the Blazers. I think it's similar in that this is just a case of a player getting the itch to play again, even though he should stay retired.

He who signs the big new contract gets to write the history.

He got 2nd and third opinions

Good for him I guess.

I dunno, I just can't quite work myself up to caring about this. I mean, it's definitely weird to see him in a different uniform, but given his age and the egos most of these pro athletes have I can't say I'm surprised to see him attempt a comeback. And whatever his true intentions were with retirement long-term, in the short run it kind of gave the Blazers cover to amnesty him without much fallout.

It was terrible the way he went out, and if he really has a chance to re-launch his career, good luck to him. Anyone who boos him at the Rose Garden is an asshole.

I will be booing loudly from my couch in Houston
