I've heard the term used just never abbreviated.

A mandatory reporter is someone who is bound by the law to report Child Abuse 24/7, whether at work, home, the store, etc. Being a Teacher I am one.

The only people I've ever knew had to report abuse were teachers and doctors. I had no idea that I was required to report abuse although I would have because of my basic nature. I just wouldn't have considered someone of a different race being some kind of automatic child kidnapper. That would have been a bridge too far.

As my mother used to say, there but for the grace of God, goes I. I try to look on others as being me had God chosen differently.

Well Lanny, that is why this is a huge issue. Some cops will believe whatever the white woman says in this situation 100% of the time. The cops shouldn't have even been called.

In that case the system would be broken. I say, let's fix the system. I wouldn't allow a peace officer to remain in his job but maybe 5 minutes after I learned his racism affected his work. The 5 minutes is the time he'd be allotted to clean out his desk.

  • Employee of a public or private organization providing child-related services or activities: Including but not limited to youth groups or centers, scout groups or camps, summer or day camps, survival camps or groups, centers or camps that are operated under the guidance, supervision or auspices of religious, public or private educational systems or community service organizations; and
  • Excluding community-based, nonprofit organizations whose primary purpose is to provide confidential, direct services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking or human trafficking
• A coach, assistant coach or trainer of an amateur, semiprofessional or professional athlete, if compensated and if the athlete is a child.

I don't know your job, I actually believe you're retired. If you are, you're not legally obligated to report abuse. You said, as a decent human being you'd report it though.
As I said in my original post, even if this lady was a mandatory reporter. I don't see how her reasoning would be a good faith report.
Basically saying she has no 'safeguard' and was completely wrong to assume a black man babysitting non-black children was suspicious.

I thought about sharing another personal story, but thought better of it.
The two meme accounts stalk the forum and roleplay too often for it.
I also thought about attaching a photo off my facebook of the whiteboard for the mandatory reporter class I was required to take... But whatever, people can believe what they want.

This story reads like some lady thinking she’s playing the hero, who instead was playing the fool. Kids that age would be giving away signs of something being wrong. You watch the kids not the adult.

I mean I guess its ok to observe, but to call the cops when you have nothing to go off of is pretty stupid.

If an adult pulled up next to me and asked to talk to my kids, I’d probably tell them to screw off, thats creepy...

So the guys working on my house i beleive were victims of racial bigotry earier this week. A random neighbor called the cops and said “theres alot of mexicans over there doing alot of work, so they must be doing something wrong”.

Never mind the large sign in my front yard that has thier contractors license posted. Ignored it on all the work vehicles. Cops seemed annoyed they were there with the city inspector, per the gc.

Pretty sure the cops were called because they thought i had a bunch of illegals working.

What ignorant bigotry.

If you have questions or concerns jaut come talk to me about it. Why just call the cops unless its a racial thing and you dont want to talk about the work im having done????

I think this proves how ignorant I am or something. I just have a hard time understanding the assume somethings wrong mindset. See a black guy with a couple kids so assume something bad’s happening and call the cops? Wouldnt even be a thought...
See some hispanic workers, assume their illegals and call the cops. I just dont understand the thought process that goes into that...

You are not ignorant.

It's these people that are ignorant. Both in human relations and community communication.

If I have an issue or concern with what a neighbor might be doing, I go discuss it with them. If it cant be resolved, then I might seek a next step, but I am a fix it yourself kinda guy when it comes to these types of things.

Proper communication will solve 90 percent of these things..... unless its racial bigotry... which is why I think it is.

There are people who believe the cops exist to harass (or worse) those they don't like. The casual "proud to be a racist" attitude of many of my fellow citizens make me sick!
