I don't think this is something you just "put it away", like a joke about him working for a landscaping company. It crossed a line, regardless of whoever was involved, that gives John a LOT of leeway here.

On one hand, he "made fun" of people on a website, and on other hand, they tried to get him fired. These two things are not equal.

I never said it was trivial or treated it that way. It's very serious. I never said they were equal things. I have never stated that. Like I said I don't expect him to stop being angry about it or forget it. It just doesn't do him any good for it to keep coming up here. It happened twice. I don't want there to be anymore fuel. I don't want it happening again.

In essence, the only way for it to not occur again is for him to either leave the board period, or change his name and lurk for a long time. Which is sad because it means that there are people on here who are incapable of not playing a victim and even after multiple people have said he did it as a joke (and to *not* take most of what he says seriously, like a few other posters here), they still took everything he said as if he was being a 'bully'.

Even though he used to take far more insulting comments than anything he ever said. Like 100X's as much shit.

I suggested to him he leave the board or change his name, but he didn't want to. That's realistically the only way to make it go away 100%. He'll/we'll always have to deal with childish posters who gain super powers because they're behind a computer screen. He made the mistake of letting people know who he was, fully expecting people to actually be an adult about stuff on here. And by "stuff on here" I mean actual real life stuff not trivial jokes to newbies.

It's never going to go away 100%. It will always have happened. If he keeps bringing it up, it only keeps it alive and only causes more opportunity for it to happen again.

He doesn't have to change his name or lurk. He just has to be mindful of what he says and move on.

Yes he does have to change his name, because anything he says as HCP could be used against him. With a new name, it won't be an issue.

At some point everyone here needs to get it through their heads that this conversation makes posters uneasy about posting here. Some have quit and or changed their names because of the fact that this conversation seems to keep coming up. I can guarantee some people simply do not want to take the risk.
My suggestion is to let this go.
