Barkley just said the Portland Trail Blazers are tops in the west

That's a lie; when we WERE a terrible team, you blamed it on LA for taking "such a large volume of bad shots."

Nope, I said you could at least make a decent argument that a player who can create his own shot might need to do that more on a bad team, but LaMarcus doesn't have that excuse. The logic is the exact opposite of what Mags implied, that a player should only be criticised for bad shooting if he's on a bad team. Then Mags will himself complain about Batum's shooting.

I know LA at least gets hot and has great scoring nights every once in awhile but most of his games are below 50%.

Bro, you've been jumping on Aldridge since he came into this league... Whatever the case, you are just looking fucking silly for saying anything negative when our team is the 2nd best in the league. But every group has a rotten apple in the bunch. The one guy that will never be satisfied and needs to complain to stay alive.

Oh, just because we have the 2nd best record, none of our players have any flaws? You are funny to talk to, because you pull out every logical fallacy in the book.

Now let's do a comparison with Dwight Howard vs Aldridge in crunch time

http://www.82games.com/1415/14HOU15.HTM

Howard's offense: 86.1 and his defense: 90.9 vs. Aldridge OFFENSE: 105.1, Defense: is 87.4

Aldridge is a better scorer and defender during clutch-time situations!

No, its the fact that regardless of circumstance, you try and call out Aldridge. The funny thing is you rarely give him props when he's dominating, which further explains your hate towards the player.

Batum's role is completely different on this team. As I argued before... Batum is averaging 8.9 FGA per game, while Aldridge is taking 20 per game. Aldridge shoots twice as much as Batum.

If Batum is not hitting those 3's, then he's hurting the team. Also, we are 6-0 without Batum in the line-up, while we are 1-1 without Aldridge. Obviously the trend explains that Aldridge has a more important role on this team.

Of course I like it when his shot is on..but his scoring is like JR Smith's. A shooter like that is going to help you once and hurt you 3 times.

He's gone through brief phases in his career, where he would post up more and dominate inside, and just when I thought he had turned the corner, he'd revert back to being LaMarsha.

Hey, one thing I do like about LaMarcus though is his honesty. He openly admits to not liking contact and to coming out with no fire and energy many nights. That's why he lazily shots all those jumpers.

Your animosity for Aldridge has now become laughable bro. No joke

when did he say that word for word? or are you putting words in his mouth?

Also, if he gave us 1 good night and 3 bad ones... then the houston series apparently never happened... seems to me he had 2 good games in a row there.

And then theres this year. :dunno:

Out of 6 games in that series, he had only 1 that was a poor one. That's after Houston adjusted and put their centers on him. But Aldridge adjusted and started dominating them again a game after

LOL as much as I want to hate Curry, the dude has been the best guard in the league. Its fucking crazy! He is definitely worthy of being the top vote for guards

you know i dont really hate curry, he's one of those guys i can respect for being damn good. he's not like a westbrick or hardflop that just cheats and whines all the time. I can say in good conscience that ATM he's probably worth of #1 PG spot but if i had a choice i'd still take dame (homerism) who IMO is a legit number 2 choice in the league right now.

Chalk it up to pathetic homeritis or whatnot, but I'm personally seeing a silver lining to LaMarsha and that's that he's been remarkably healthy for an elite big. I'm more ok with his jump shots than I used to be. Yeah, he can dominate inside here and there, but he's not a bruiser. He's LaMarcus Aldridge and he'll post up when it counts and the matchup dictates.

This is true. Look at how remarkable Duncan's has been because he will post up when it's absolutely necessary but he won't pound the paint each and every game.

Guys like Shaq, Howard, Ewing, Zo and other bruisers always have injuries or shortened careers.

Guys like Dirk, Aldridge, Duncan, KG have had mainly injury free careers.

There are exceptions to the rule obviously like Malone and Kareem

You're illogical defense of his poor shooting is a joke.

Where have I defended his perimeter shooting? I'm saying that his importance on this team far outweighs the silly 10-15 ft deficiency you are trying to push.

Actually no. Even if you take that 1/3 ratio literally, that does not mean he can never have two good games in a row. Have you ever rolled the same number twice in dice?
(figure from this year, he's shot 50% or above 10 times out of 28 games, so he's had 1 efficient night for every 2 bad ones).

This forum is like logical fallacy heaven!

The original post I made in this thread, is that LA was indeed mostly a jump shooter, and that he was not efficient at it. Nothing you've brought up refutes that, nor can you refute it because it's a fact.

okay

now please, provide a word for word link of lma saying all that.

i mean, people-putting-words-in-players-mouths-to-guide-their-agenda all over here.

23-7 second best record in NBA and 2nd in the west. if that's wrong, i don't wanna be right.

I've heard him talk about starting the game with tired legs, and he was unhappy about playing center and having to bang inside. I remember in one interview he asked "why should I bang a guy in the post all night when I can just go up with a jumper". But he didn't even need to say those things, because you can clearly see when he shies away from contact.

The ironic thing, is that when he's going against good post defenders, he seems to take that as a challenge and loves to bang, but then you see him take outside shots against players he should be taking down low.

Link or it didn't happen

But that's 100% false. He's efficient from 3 and in the paint. So it completely destroys your argument. My response with how clutch he is when the game is close, explains how efficient he is.

You are only holding one facet of Aldridge's game to complain about, while ignoring everything else. Hell you are even trying to discount 82games.com because it goes against your argument! Lol

You keep trying to sell "I have facts" but you are only using 1 fact! Double LOL.

so, what i got out of that is assumptions and inferences of what hes said.

I hate his fade away jumper too, and would prefer the straight one leg face up jumper... but, i can still see the benefits he gives this team. So, it is possible to not like one aspect and still see he benefits this team way more than hinders it. Try it.

BTW, if you want to debate LaMarcus as an entire player, not just his shooting, that's a different topic. If you notice, in this thread I said I thought he was a pretty good defender and a solid rebounder.

But how do you evaluate his offense? He's shot under 40% from the field 11 times this season, and above 50% 7 times. I think most fans would agree that when you shoot under 40% from the field you hurt your team offensively. If you guys don't see it that way, fine, but that's the way I see it.

But he's not shooting 40%, so there's that.

Lol at the discount on rebounding... "Pretty good?" I'm he's 10th in the league in rebounding sir.

Also, score the most points, so there is your offense

Last time I checked, games are decided by the team that scores more

This is his Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde syndrome. I agree with this observation. He's always back and forth with "LaMarsha" or "LaMonster."

I propose a hybrid name: LaMosha

Uncanny the resemblance!

Are you for real? Scoring in the paint is not jumpers. He's good from 3 and decent in the paint, the problem is what a large RATIO of shots he takes from mid range. More than any other player in the league. I question the accuracy of those clutch stats because of the wild values (100% inside for LA and 16% for Lillard), and the value (because of unknown sample size). However, if we take them at face value all they do is indicate that he should be taking more inside shots. Because they say he is shooting 100% from inside in the clutch and 38% on his jumpers (worse than overall).

And for a guy that chucks up more FGA than any player in the league, FG% is a pretty big facet of his game. It's really big for any player, but especially for LA.

Are you for real? For chucking an inefficient jumper (40%) like you keep holding onto and still averaging 45% from the field is pretty amazing! 22.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 0.7 steals is pretty sexy.

But hey, keep on trucking bro... Your jumper argument is all you can hold onto
