I went to All-Pro Basketball Camp for about 4, maybe 5 years. In that time I won best rebounder trophy (yea, when I was above average for my height haha), the championship trophy, and 2 "Best Playmaker" trophy's (back to back, my last 2 years in the camp).
It was a lot of fun, and one of the coaches was Sean Connolly. He was a SG at Ohio State, and he started, and was a deadly shooter. I don't know if any of you remember him but he graduated a few years ago, maybe 3. But he got offers to play pro basketball in Europe and Italy, but turned them down because he didn't want to go that far, and out of country. He is still in shape though, and still plays in leagues. He is a very cool guy, he liked me lol, and he coaches varsity basketball for high school now.
We also got guest speakers. Every year, NBA Assistant Coach Dick Harter (LMAO at his name. JK, great, great, great guy). He was an assistant for the Celtics and the Sixers when he was there, but he had also coached in Indiana, New York, I think Toronto, and maybe 2 more places (he coached Ewing, Miller, Pierce/Walker, Iverson, etc. The best of the best). He went with Jim O'Brien. But he is old, but an unbelivable person and he knows everything about the NBA. He is a great defensive guy as well.
But what stood out to me, was that he told us and the kids at the camp NOT to look up to Allen Iverson haha. No joke. He said, and I quote: "Allen Iverson is a great guy, for about 2 hours a day. Those 2 hours are on the basketball court. The last 22 hours of the day he is a thug and a terrible roll model. Look up to your dad." Haha me and my friends lauged at that, and so did he, but then he said "Guys, it's funny and it gave us a laugh, but I'm not joking."
