The thing about stats, especially shooting stats, is that they don't acoount for altered shots or hot potato shot clock violation shots or qtr ending half court heaves. Shooters get stuck with prayers sometimes because they are shooters they also tend to ignore missed layups or shots that draw fouls getting the guy to the line and helping put defenders in foul trouble

No he was 0-1 his first start, then 2-6 the second and 2-5 his third. That's 3 starts... Do the math

That was pretty optimistic.

So if you're prognostications follows sute to your prognostications last year that would mean the Blazers Prob make it to the WCF this year and lose to someone like the Clippers or Spurs.

I got the wins right but lost the round. If we played Clippers in the second round, we would have made it to the WCF!

Regardless, Crabbe brings defense, fluid ball movement and doesn't suck. Something the other back up 3s fail to do.

Dunno what defines "starter material", but I'd like to point out that Sefalosha never put up a PER higher than 12.8, and he's started over 70% of the games he's played in his career. Filling a role, making good decisions, and playing excellent defense is enough to be "starter material" (IMO). Crabbe is certainly capable of that.

I think Crabbe will be a career back-up. That's not something bad IMO.

Years ago, it was very usual for players to take a few years off the bench to earn consistent playing time. Age was also a factor. We now expect every player from 19-22 years old to play like MJ. Sad.
Crabbe is showing good progress. And signs that he can actually play this game at this level. Give him the opportunity to make some mistakes and learn from them.

With the the play of Crabbe and Leonard we should be giving them more minutes no matter what. When Batum and LA are back it gives them more rest, while giving the young guys some run which would be valuable if (knock on wood) LA or Batum get injured late in the season and we are in great playoff position. We need to run this team like the Spurs as much as possible when it comes to rotations (Besides the sitting of starters on b2b, we aren't old.).

I would give him every chance to get as many minutes as possible. I actually love the guy! But I suspect if he gets starter minutes, then it's gonna be on another team. He maybe good enough to start, but not good enough to take that spot from Matthews or Batum. I would rather him be a back up because that means he stays a Blazer.

CJ is a smart guy too, but his bball IQ is not on crabbes level and neither is his shot. Crabbe also offers more defensively.

CJ offers something that Crabbe presently does not. He can create with the ball. We sorely missed him tonight on our bench. The reason why CJ is so important is because he comes in with Blake and Kaman and he gives us another scoring option off the bench who can create something on his own. He doesn't need to sit and wait for the ball like Crabbe, but unlike Barton he plays pretty smart. He plays decent defense. He passes the ball.
