Batum on Crabbe: "He reminds me of B-Roy''

Reminds of Roy does not eaqual good as Roy. Crabbe has shown a lot of interesting capabilities, from three and on defense mainly, but that is nowhere near the quality of either Batum or Wes. At least now. And I would be shocked if he improved enough this season to really be able to give 80% of what either of our current starters provide.

Crabbe is just a very nice player to develop off the bench. Maybe down the road his Roy-like moves will be starter quality but it's not there yet. I love watching him and he played admirably in batums absence, but not anywhere close to the everything player Batum is. Last game Crabbe has 8/2/2 on bad shooting in 31min. He played good D, but not better than Batum. There is not one single area that I can think of that Crabbe is Batums equal yet.

Let's just give the man a chance to be a backup and grow into an awesome player down the line.

All the moves like Brandon...

he's got the moves like Brandon...

oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh..

he's got the moves like Brandon...

Klay Thompson is a better comparison, maybe a shorter Peja.

Yeah maybe. I just don't see Roy.

No handles.

No fade-away.

Can't get to the rack.

I guess it's possible that he shows a myriad of moves in practice that we don't get to see in games, but so far I haven't seen anything that resembles Brandon Roy. If anyone reminds me of Roy, it's more CJ McCollum. His herky-jerky style is much more reminiscent of Roy, but he's about 3-4 inches shorter.

I've never seen a player like Brandon Roy, it's damn near impossible to compare him. I mean there are players who play like him in a sense (Evan Turner, Austin Rivers, etc.) but no one has ever had his skillset and been so dominant... He wasn't super fast or strong but somehow he'd beat the better athlete 9 times out of 10. He is the 2 guard version of Dame, guts over ability.

Although slower and bigger, Roy had something that I saw in a young Allan Iverson. A fearlessness and ability to create a shot against virtually anybody guarding him. This is also early Roy and early Iverson I'm talking about. They were stars who played with a lot of heart and passion. They both could will a team to a win all by themselves. Just put the whole team on their back and go all out.

I wonder if we can transplant Crabbe's knees into Roy and bring him back to come off the bench?

So you're saying you'd rather see some of Crabbe in Roy than vice versa.

Crickie, this is typical Blazer fan behavior, to start salivating over some young player. But get a reality check...Crabbe has only shown that he's an ok backup.

In his 3 starts, he's 3-11 from 3pt range, and people are acting like he's been setting the world on fire. That is actually bad shooting.

Actually 4-12 from 3. That's 33% from 3. A TS% of 50%.

But my fandom isn't about his three point shooting. I like his defense the most. Something our bench completely sucked at last season.

It's nice knowing there are players coming in that can help sustain or even add to a lead

or, just about what LMA shot as last year's TS%. ;)

He wouldn't replace Batum. He would replace Wes, if he was really that good.

Does anyone else wonder if CJ will be happy as a career backup though? I mean, he's fine as a sparkplug off the bench, but he's really too short to be a starting two and he's not a point guard. His career trajectory is a backup combo guard. Will he accept that?

I've wondered that as well and think the short answer is 'No' for a couple of reasons. We might get into that on the Podcast tonight.

and you're looking at one stat to come to the complete opposite conclusion. funny.

It's weird how Sinobas does this all the time. Much like how he bags on Aldridge. His agenda is pretty funny now. It's like reading the Sunday comics

Similar as him in demeanor probably which I think I can see a lil bit of that in him.

Get on the same page, gentlemen!

I don't get the trade talk. Why not just enjoy what we have this season.
Because it was a troll post.

Thread hijacking successful.

I believe Nico was saying Crabbe reminded him of BRoy in personality and demeanor, and a little in style. Only an idiot would think their games are the same. Or that Crabbe has made Batum "expendable".

Ding ding ding!

I think it's fairly obvious that Batums "injury" coinciding with Crabbes emergence is just a little too coincidental!

Batum knows he's being replaced and is pouting!

Should the Blazers be dreaming about DeMar DeRozan playing along side Lillard?
