Batum says he's back

Really? I thought the rebounding was awful, they gave up way too many offensive rebounds. I had no confidence in them actually winning until the game was over and we had one more point. On a night when they finally got Rolo back, had their starting five in tact, back at home after a dreadful road trip and month of January, I really expected more out of the team than I saw. Same stupid decisions and turnovers, no ball movement for stretches of the game, horrible output from the bench, outside of Rolo nobody has yet to figure out the principals of boxing out, it goes on and on. If Rolo wasn't back we'd have easily lost this game as well and we'd have 2 wins in the last 11 games. This team is not playing well and they need to figure it out soon. A 1 point win over the Utah Jazz at home doesn't solve anything.
It solves everything. It's a win. 33-16 now. 4th seed with HCA. I think this is the beginning of a win streak. HUGE game for Lillard. He made 10 shots in a row from inside the arc. Lopez changed everything on both sides of the court. Huge wins for us. All the games were close in the playoffs against Houston but we won the series. Winning close games is huge no matter who you are playing.

I didnt put it in quotes that he said that exactly. The summary of what he said was that he was back to how he had been playing before.
When you say "Batum says he's back" as the thread title, you are spinning it as what Batum actually said. It was irresponsible and if you were a journalist, you would be raked under the coals!

Now if the thread title said "Batum feels like his health is back to normal", that would still spin positive, but leaves an out for his "lackluster play" so far this season

Raked under the coals? How would that work, lol?

I don't know why we fought before last season. I love your humor!

I think I'll just stay out of the religion forums cuz I dig on your takes

LOL, yeah we had a few pretty lively "discussions". I learned awhile ago it's best not to post about certain topics in the off-topic forum, and if I must, just "Don't argue with Mags" is my new motto. Better for my health. :comppunch:

I hope his shooting returns to norm, but you gotta keep in mind that he's our 5th scoring option and shouldn't be measured by his scoring output. His defense, passing, and getting Rolo easy points is what's most important. If those are all markedly improved and his shooting is still off he'll still be a benefit to the team. But by the time the POs start we definitely need his 3-point shot to be on target.
>Well thought!

Raked under the coals? How would that work, lol?
Imagine the coals are the leaves in your yard. And Kingspeed is a tarp covering a deep hole filled with sharpened stakes. You'd want to rake Kingspeed under the coals to hide the tarp that's covering the trap you've cleverly placed for the neighborhood children who keep throwing their damn frisbee into your yard.

Well, the devil would do it because HE'S IN HELL!!!!

Actually....

Batum said he's back to feeling how he felt before. The headline was very accurate.

Also, my first was post was very clear we what he said. Should I have put the whole post in the title?

They are two different things. Generally you want your title to relate to your subject in some sense. It tends to create confusion when it does not, and if can distract somebody while trying to read what you have to say. However when your title relates to your subject then it can help create a more powerful impression with your readers.

Some ideas for different titles based off what it is you wanted to say:
Batum says health has improved after discovering new taping method.

Batum attributes team success to return of Lopez.

New taping methods may help Batum increase quality of play.

You took that straight from a writing help book, huh?

I dont even remember where I got my writing info at this point. It was the only subject in school I ever cared about at a young age! I definitely recall reading or hearing something similar to what I said in a writing class though.

Well it sounded official, and good. And stuff.

You did good.

:ghoti:

He said/She said....Anyone can say things. Go out and show us Batum!

But it was Lopez and the taping. If I'm that detailed in the title line, what do I say in the post? Batum was clearly saying he was back to how he felt before. Then I explained why in post.

We all heard the interview, it's like beating a dead horse guys..Nic feels better, played better. What's not to like?

His inconsistency, perhaps?
He played well with Rolo and now he's doing that again. I can find consistency in that. He had a bad stretch, that's another consistent string of games. Now he's playing well and it's as if folks want him to fail...sheesh..dead horse, beaten to dust, blowing away in the wind. I like Nic

I like consistent Nic. Consistently good Nic.

Come on.. Nic has been the model of inconsistency throughout his entire career here. And this year he's just been absolute garbage. SPECIALLY for how much we pay him.....

I like him too, but....uh not for 12 mil, and not for as many minutes as he gets.

Not at the beginning of the season. One game doesn't prove anything. I want him to get out, but I'm a little agnostic until Batum can string together around 5-10 of last game performances in a row to finally feel comfortable

Nic brings intangibles to the starting lineup..I agree with the coach and Antonio Harvey about what he brings to the mix. Tone said it best. If Nic has a turnover, the fanbase ignores all the defensive stops he brings to the table..blocks steals rebounds. He's maybe one to the best defenders we have at running guys off the 3pt line. You can hate on him all you want and if you look closely...every player on the roster has inconsistencies..probably every player in the league. I'm going to beat a dead horse here and repeat that it's the team that should be looked at as one, not dissected into 5 parts. I've had hours of arguements with fans over Nic and nobody will convince me that he should not be starting for the Blazers.

Every win proves something and Nic has contributed to every win. Dame and Wes have slumps but Nic seems to be consistently held under a microscope

If Nico does 20 things right then one thing wrong, some people jump out of their chairs to blast him for it. C'est la vie.

You are right, but not for 12 million.
