Batum to undergo shoulder surgery

This, to me, is bigger news than the Blazers signing Miller . . . in other words I think losing Batum is a bigger loss than what we get by adding Miller.

Are we now better than we were last year . . . depends of the improvement of Oden this year. But I don't think it is an automatic that we are better this year . . . hate to put the pressure on Oden, but it will probably come down to him (and how much Miller can fit inot the system)

Why not move Roy to the 3, and either Miller, Rudy or Bayless into the starting back court?

I realize this is way too unconventional for our coach, but I think it makes us the best team.

Anything is better than Travis getting more minutes.

LOL, somehow this turns into a Nate thread ... Dude.

Good god. I made the same suggestion (at least with Rudy). Someone wake me up if I start complaining about our slow pace. :devilwink:

Well, they did bring him in and the doctors gave him the "go ahead". It's really impossible to know for sure about these things without opening him up to have a look-see.

I can't really see what more they could do. Fixing and diagnosing people is not an exact science...

:sigh: @ Blazers' doctors. They don't really have a decent track record, do they?

Jameer Nelson had this surgery in Feb, was back only in June for the Finals, and it was a pushed timeline/recovery :sigh:

Well hell, with your track record on success as an NBA coach, KP would be crazy not to force Nate to coach as you would coach.

Well, Nate could have coached him not to hurt his shoulder, but since Nate is only a motivator - Nic was motivated, but did not really understand that he should not hurt his shoulder... :devilwink:

To be fair, I have won as many championships as Nate has. If you include Jr high and high school, I have won 12 more than he has.

Not to be really mean here but....

When is it Outlaw's turn to get injured? :devilwink:

First Webster, Now Batum, Next Outlaw? One can hope

Looks like Martell is gonna get a ton of minutes! Hope he is ready! This sucks, but in a roundabout way this gets rid of one log from the jam. Good luck Nic!

Ain't this just jolly. Since back injuries tend to linger, Rudy's availability will be questionable as well.

It would seem Simmons has pull in ^high^ places.

It hurts his development drastically.... thats the sad part

I wonder about how bad they miss Ime already

Come Back Ime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :ohno: :ohno::ohno:

This does suck.. but this is why we are deep thank goodness

That is what I am thinking. Batum had some of the best reports of the summer. It sounds like he has become more confident in himself and was ready to take his game to the next level (not just defensive specialist).

He can still come back and develop all that, but I wonder how much this sets him back. I don't know anything about the surgery, but if recovery is that long, i'm guessing progess of Batum's game has taken several steps back.

you are over reacting. If partial tear 6-8 weeks, full teat could be a lot longer. Either way he will be fine, we'll see how deep our vaunted bench really is and Roy can and will play significant SF minutes.

6-8 weeks? haha

its 4-6 months minimum

The thing that sucks even more is now with Pendergraph and Mills already injured for awhile, we have to hope we have no more injuries with just 12 guys healthy. And not having Nicolas' defense on guys like Kobe is going to stink.

You're right . . . no big deal.
