Enjoy.

About the only good thing about covering a game in Oklahoma City is that the hotel I stay at is literally 20 feet from the Ford Center.

Other than that, it's easily No. 29 on the NBA tour of cities, even worse than Sacramento and Milwaukee. One reason why? When I arrived here with Oregonian photographer Bruce Ely (second roadie of the year for Bruuuce!), it was about 9:30 p.m. and we were starved. The downtown here might as well have had tumbleweeds blowing through it, but they do have what could pass as a lively section called "Bricktown" - which was within walking distance.

i wonder just how "troublesome" roys knee is?

I really have to admit that Jason has improved as a writer. His insights are very welcome now, which is extremely hard for me to admit because I don't like him personally. Maybe he's grown up a bit in the last three years, but he is definitely one of the best beat writers in the game now. If anyone should have won that award on the Oregonian, it should have been him. Not Canzano.

If Hooters or IHOP are OKC's only choices for late-night dining on a Friday night, that's pretty piss poor. What's up with that?

Maybe you can enlighten me, but what is up with all the Quick hate? I never got it.

He was just so arrogant for the three years that I covered the team. The way he and Canzano walk around the arena, you'd think they own the place. I always felt he had a "I make the news" attitude. I hated how he infused his opinion into his game recaps, especially when it was negative about the team. I know he looked down on me because I was an internet reporter, and I was (in his eyes) a Blazer homer.

Oh well, it's in the past. I think he's improved as a writer, and probably a person.

You give him more credit than I. While I enjoy the Behind-the-door series, Quick likes to make sure everyone knows just how important his is to getting you good stories:

As I have said before, I've tried to be careful with Brandon as to not wear on him and suffocate him. As a reporter, he is my Most Valuable Player: he's not only the top player on the team, he is the most insightful, the most profound and just the overall best quote. Some colleagues say I have it so good because I'm around the team more than anyone, which is true. But if you don't play it right, that can be a detriment. There's such a thing as being around too much. Players, and coaches, need their space and I'm constantly trying to read when guys are getting sick of me.

Thanks Jason. How about you tell us about the team you're covering, instead of explaining why you're so great?

Jason's articles still always have a subtext of "Look how much I rock" still to me. It's those interesting anecdotes that you find after filtering his writing that keeps me reading.

Canzano does the same thing in his articles. His Roy piece a week ago was a good example.

Have any of you been to Fire On The Mountain for wings? Are they as good as Quick (or Channing) say they are??

They are really good. Especially the Asian peanut wings. mmmmmmmmm

Bourbon Chipotle and Raspberry Habanero ftw!

I hit Fire on the Mountain as a reward for working on the house for a day; once, when it was full, I hit Buffalo Wild Wings instead... their hottest sauce is barely on par with the medium-hot sauces at FOTM... weak!

Plus, FOTM has much better beers on tap.

Can you watch sports there? Oh, and I see they have two locations. Is one any better than the other?

They have a couple big-screen TVs at the Burnside one (the only one I've ever been to), always on one sports channel or another. It's not the sports-lover's haven that BWW is, but the food's better! On big game days, get your to-go order in early. We went in one weekend during the NFL playoffs, nobody was there, we got a seat real easy, then ordered our wings...

"Sorry, because of all the take-out orders we have today, your wings will take an hour."

So, it's not heaven or anything, but the wings are great.

I'm actually starting to dislike these articles. They started off much better, with information the fans rarely hear about. I hope I'm not alone when saying this, but I could give a fuck what Quick's relationship is like with Roy or any of the other players. There was a reason Sheed never talked to the douche, part of it that Sheed was just an asshole, the other part is pretty easy to figure out. Fuck you Quick, and your autobiography bullshit. I could only imagine the shit talking the players do behind your back. The only reason they talk to you now is because they know for some unknown reason we have these bi-polar fans that will turn on players because they think your literary pieces are gospel, when they're actually no better than the toilet paper I wipe my ass with. You're a beat writer nothing less, nothing more, so write like it you prick.

He's just blogging. If my boss would let me, I could give you guys better stuff then Quick is!
