There's no world where Simmons sucks. He had a bad series and got in his head but you're basically saying that if we don't have Dame you don't want Giannis.

He was not exposed. He got in his own head. His free throw numbers tanked so it wasn't something a defense was doing to him. The fact is he can defend any player in the league, he has elite passing ability, he rebounds on both ends, and usually he is one of the most dynamic slashers in the game. He's 24, there is no reason for us not to want him. If Dame was leaving he would likely be the best return possible. If Dame is staying we should also do whatever we need to in order to pair the two up.

"Exposed" may be too harsh of word, but I think it is clear that given Simmons fit on that 20-21 Sixers roster, it's now painfully obvious how best to defend that team when Simmons and Embiid share the floor together. It might be more fitting to say that this version of the Sixers was exposed.

I've said several times that if Olshey is going to trade Dame and blow it up, we ought to be rebuilding around the 24 year old Simmons. He is an athletic freak on the level of Giannis, he's probably even more versatile defensively than Giannis, he can dribble and pass better than any big in the game and when he isn't freaking out like he did in the playoffs, he gets to the hole and finishes as good as anyone else.

So if we could get him for CJ and every draft pick we can muster, we do it. If we're trading Dame that's who we do it for, plus Thybulle and picks but Simmons is the prize. If the CJ trade requires something inconvenient like including RoCo... you still do it. The guy has already been all-nba, he's going to be a superstar and we all know that's what Dame needs paired with to contend and stay.

I'd love that but I don't get the move for Indiana. Is Brogdon/CJ/Levert/?/Sabonis a contender? It seems like a step back for them. Maybe we'd be throwing in picks?

Geez…if Dames was on the Market there could be numerous all stars and some as possibilities and if Neil didn’t consider them and take his time to get the best deal that would be a mistake.
Brown or Tatum, Sabonis, Middleton or Holiday and/ or some, Siakim plus. Butler, Towns you could go on and on as teams would want a shot at Dame.
