What's the most you would give up for Ben Simmons?

Green is a genius coordinator on defense, I do not have any arguments about that. But as an individual defender, I think Simmons even now is more capable individually simply because of his ability to pretty much defend all 5 positions given his bigger frame and extra mobility. I think that Nurk, in many ways, replicates a lot of the defensive capabilities that Embiid provides and might even be a better defensive anchor than him (with Embiid being a much much better player offensively).

Simmons is a risk. It will either implode or it will be a combination that the league will be very afraid of. The Blazers are far enough from contention, as currently constructed, imho, and Dame is old enough to take the bigger risk if available. That's my opinion and I am fully aware that it might backfire spectacularly.

Maybe but Simmons is better than Green and only 25.

IMHO this is our one and only chance to keep Dame. You trade for a guy who's his friend and can make the team better.

That's Green not Simmons.

You don't take that risk when your franchise player is on the line.

My gut feeling is that if this team does not seem like a contender immediatly or a team that could grow into being a contender - there is no way of knowing what Dame would do - and I for one would not hold it against him if he wants to leave. So, I would go for the bigger risk/reward option, but that's just me.

As great as Green is as a defensive coordinator, he has actually been an offensive liability in the last 3 years. Even in the last down-year for Simmons he has been a more productive player than Green.

In 5 less games last years his BPM of 2.7 was higher than Green's 1.5, his VORP of 2.2 vs 1.8 and if we are looking at efficiency stats PER 18.2 vs 13.3, WS/48 0.153 vs 0.122

I am also thinking that there is a much bigger chance of Ben Simmons playing his heart out to prove to everyone that Philly are the ones that made the mistake - Green, frankly, has nothing to prove in the NBA.

No. I don't. I think Simmons is critically flawed. The man is 5/34 for 3 in his career. Barely takes any mid range jumpers.

I think it's a recipe for disaster and y'all are clamoring for it.

I am afraid that in the last couple of years, it is better than what Green is doing.

Last year Simmons took 10 3PA hitting them at 30% rate (bad).

Last year Green took 126 3PA hitting them at 27% rate (worse rate, and a lot more "wasted" possessions) (For the record, he took 129 attempts the year before at 27.9% and 165 attempts a year before that at 28.5%)

Simmons not taking 3PA at this point is better than Green taking them.

Barely takes any mid range jumpers.

Again, not an interesting statistic imho. Simmons had 583 FGA last year, Green had 380 in 5 more games. On top of that, Green had an awful .540 TS% vs Ben's .584 - so he is taking more shots and hitting them at a higher rate than Green.

I said that I believe there is a chance it will be an absolute disaster, but there is also a chance this is going to be one of the most frightful combinations in the entire NBA.

We're sending out 31 mil and taking back 24. Is that allowed? Doesnt work under the 1.25x +100k rule. Or maybe it is because we are taking back less?

No, because he has a theory a very secret theory, one he's unwilling to repeat, despite spamming every Simmons thread with how bad he is due to said pet theory he refuses to repeat because it's on the reader to go through the archives and find it. Or, more likely, it's a weak-ass theory he knows can't stand up under scrutiny.

Proof on your assertion that GM's won't touch him? I'm pretty sure you're mistaking Morey's INSANE asking price and therefore GM's hanging up the phone, for nobody wants him at a reasonable price.

He is a better scorer. This team, even without CJ do not lack shooters. What they need is more people that attack the rim. At this point it is Dame and Norm.

As for a better shooter, the stats tell us in the last several years, he has been better than Green. As I said, Green has been an offensive liability in the last 3 years, Simmons has not been. He (Ben) is a not a good shooter, but he is a good scorer. Unfortunately, Green is neither at this point.

He did in every series but the Hawks, far better than your boy CJ, both last year and overall the stats have been put up repeatedly, but you got your "theory".

He's got a mysterious theory though! Who needs stats, eye-test, playoff stats and league accolades when Dviss has a "theory" a theory so strong it can't be repeated due to its overwhelming certainty.

Y'all bring up one regular season game where he was aggressive and all of the sudden your point is proven.

No, the playoff series and his entire career of being scared to shoot and scared to go to the free throw line is well documented...
