Now I realize defensive metrics are flawed, but Simmons definitely isn’t a top 2 defensive player, and when it comes to overall value he’s not in Dame and Curry’s zip code. I’d say he’s a top 10 defensive player, and a top 20 overall player at best. That’s not a superstar.
For many people, purgatory is being in the playoffs and out in the first round. This prevents you from getting a generational talent like AD, or Zion. However, that's only part of the battle because you then have to not screw it up with bad personnel and coaching. Sadly we suffer from the latter two and our Generational talent is 6'3" and only the 2nd best at his position (I still have Curry ahead of Dame, I didn't but then last year happened).
All he has to do is have "back spasms" and he'll collect the full paycheck.Simmons will break first. He has not been shy about spending his money. He has earned approximately $54M so far in his career, so he has probably taken home half of that at most, so $27M. Dood bought a $17M home in July...missing an $8M pay day probably hurts quite a bit. I'd bet he doesn't have the stones to go the entire season. If Morey and ownership are willing to wait it out, they will win get him back on the court. Now the effort Simmons puts in, who knows.

this development was the next logical step.Simmons finally realized that Kawhi Leonard did it right by using injury as the excuse to hold out.
Egg... face.
it's just embarrassing reallyLOL...that's funny
on one hand, he's using the prime of Embiid's career as the keystone for his strategy. On the other hand, he's essentially talking about wasting the prime of Embiid's career on a pissing match between himself and Simmons
Cryptic Dame IG posts and his public frustration about our "dedication to winning" indicate that he doesn't agree with you.I and many other wouldn't label that purgatory.

I think CJ is a "difference maker" the dude drops 30 without breaking a sweat and when playing lead guard, can do that and get 7 assists. Morey isn't playing a game with Simmons, I think he already knows the outcome of that one. The dude is playing a PR game and negotiating with other GMs through the media.Difference maker is long way from another superstar, difference maker leaves it more open and gives Morey a way to come out of this without looking like he caved
