So where is it? With the current group, one of Connaughton, Wilcox, and Layman will have to step up and replace the hole left by AC. Which one is likeliest? Layman is more athlete than shooter at this point. Connaughton doesn't move well off the ball. Haven't seen Wilcox enough to form a real opinion.

Yeah we need one more scorer. Right now the shooter with the 2nd unit will be either Dame or CJ when they are in with the 2nd unit.

The answer to this question is Swanigan + Collins.

If y'all expect Pat to step up then prepare the be disappointed. Dude has shown that he doesn't have one above average NBA skill.

Probably doesn't even have one average NBA skill.

Dude needs to play baseball.
I don't know why we are keeping him around honestly, he has shown pretty much nothing. He's a great hype guy on the bench though, that is to just stand there and make hand gestures

Probably just filler for a trade. Can't see him carving out any type of role. He'll get exposed with more playing time. The only way he gets a clean look is when a defender forgets about him. He can't get open by himself (meaning running off screens, etc)

Defensively he can't keep anyone in front of him. Slow as hell laterally and not very strong either.

His one skill is rebounding. That's something he's natural at. I'll give him that.

Yeah, he needs to go back to baseball.

I mean I remember he had a couple games last season where he did fine but once again that was a couple. I just don't see him having a career even if it was on a terrible team. But hey at least he can cross the nba off his list, he obviously is talented and can go play baseball again

If we make no more moves.... I think we actually got worse this offseason. I like Collins and Swanigan, but I don't think they can be expected to step up right away.

I still think Neil is waiting for the right opportunity to use that TPE.

I'm not going to post a link, because it was a Fabsided content farm article, but I read this morning that Neil is still pushing hard to bring Carmelo to PDX. Te source was supposedly Zach Low on a Woj podcast. The TPE can't be used for Carmelo, but it can be used to relieve the Knicks of Courtney Lee's contract. Lee isn't a bad player and not grotesquely overpaid, but he is definitely too old to fit in with the Knicks' rebuilding plan.

Of course, the ongoing rumor is Mo, Meyers and Ed for Carmelo. Throw in a side of TPE for Courtney Lee and we just upgraded our starting unit and replaced Crabbe's scoring off the bench with a guy who actually plays defense, too.

Or not...

I'd love to see something happen before the season starts, but we may not see soething big until the trade deadline - like when we git Nurk back in February.

The correct answer is we should have CJ come off the bench.

Nope. He was our best 1st quarter shooter and most consistent 1st quarter scorer last season. And we still often got off to a slow start and dug ourselves into a deep hole early. He needs to start and someone else needs to step up with the second unit.

Or, we need to use that big TPE to shore up the bench.
