Opinions will vary but I nominate this gem:

[video=youtube;F1R_J5KwuLE]

He was in the middle of the paint, had to fully extend to reach the ball, throws it down with power.

Clyde Drexler taking off from the elbow against the Lakers would be tough to beat.

Vladamir Stepania's breakaway dunk!

DEAR GOD! One step into the key, and that jump! His head was above the rim at the top of his jump (halfway to the basket).

Interesting to note: the Blazers have encouraged their players to shed pounds for the last few years. Roy's going to come into training camp at 210, I believe. Joel was encouraged to lose weight, and players like LMA, Batum, and Outlaw weren't pressured to bulk up after their rookie years.

With luck, the era of the football-player-in-basketball-shorts is coming to an end.

Oh, that one's good too... Rolling Thunder over Shaq! Definitely Top 5!

BTW, Batum's second dunk over Pau has to be up there too.

holy shit, can people even jump that far anymore? seems those guys back then were skinnier and lanky ,as opposed to today.. :)

It's an optical illusion. The short shorts and Marcia Brady knee socks make it look like they are jumping higher and farther than they actually were. That, combined with the 9-foot rims back in the day, made for some wicked awesome looking dunks.

Seriously, anyone who didn't see guys like Dr. J., Dominique Wilkins, David Thompson, Clyde, etc. in their primes just can't appreciate how incredibly athletic and graceful some of those guys were. It really was like watching airborne ballet.

Hey when did they change the rim height, I had no idea... :dunno:

Travis dunking on Yao 3 years ago was NASTY!!!!!!!!!!

Another nomination. Interesting some of the best happened in LA.

Got ya!

I'm surprised this one didn't make the Top 10:

If you watch the super slow-mo at the end, you will see he actually had to turn his head to the side to avoid hitting it on the rim.

KJ's dunk on Ewing made the list, but I think his "Dream Dunk" over Hakeem was even more impressive due to the quality of the player he dunked on - the leading shot blocker in NBA history, two-time DPOY and nine-time 1st or 2nd team all-defense:

Not a Blazers dunk (kindof related, though!) but one of my favourites due to the players involved;

I love the "basketball not Football" sign at 0:49. I blame Pat Riley for ruining the beauty of the NBA game. Yeah, the Bad Boys were the original thugs, but Riley's Knicks teams took the grabbing, holding, pushing, tugging to a whole new level. They simply committed so many fouls on every possession the refs couldn't possibly call them all.

Walton over Jabbar. End of thread.
In terms of historical significance, and symbolic value, I'd have to agree with you. That dunk, more than anything else that year (besides the championship), represented the Blazers' coming of age in the NBA.

And it's interesting how he actually leveraged himself higher as he pushed off of Mark Jackson's chest on the way up. That's a very unusual thing on a dunk.

this was pretty sweet:

See, it's moments like this and his 24 point quarter that make me think that Webster *IS* the answer at SF, he was ready to bust out last year and really grab the role and make it his before he got injured. I still think he deserves the opportunity.

Martell's game against Sacramento last preseason was crazy. He was killin' 'em! I know it was one game but he was on fire.

here's a set of dunks that were in the related videos section from the Walton over Jabbar clip.

I think he dunked it, but my favorite one was Clyde taking off from the right side, running and then gliding himself under the rim for a under the rim dunk. That was so sweet. He's got a few though.

Ain't no way Sheed's dunks comes anywhere near Clydes.
