Best Jerryd Bayless Comparison?

He reminds me of a shorter Corey Maggette.

In terms of getting to the basket and drawing fouls, I definitely agree ... Jerryd is however at least marginally interested in passing the ball sometimes, so the comparison falls down a little bit.

If JB started he would look to pass much more, but since he's inserted into the lineup to be a spark-plug and score, we can't knock him for not passing, and the comparisons so far should wait until he takes over the starting 1 spot because he Brex'd (ate) blake and miller for lunch!

Good point lol Maggette wouldn't pass the ball if his life depended on it!!

A smarter, faster, better Jarrett Jack.

As KP said, "Jarrett Jack on steroids."

I agree, but not so sure about the smarter and better part... yet.

I still wish we had Jack. I'd prefer to have Jack and Bayless over Miller, Blake, and Bayless.

I think the clearest comparison is a shorter, stronger, faster, more talented, black, better shooting and better looking Joe Wolf.

I agree with everything except the last point. if you think that Bayless is more fine than Joe Wolf.

yea but he has to jump to pass the ball which annoys the hell out of me. aren't you taught not to jump when passing in the 3rd grade? just another similarity he has with jack.

Jay Williams, anyone?

The way Jay Williams stutter dribbles at the top of the key before he crossesover into the paint is eerily similar to the way Jerryd does it.

Watching the Bulls' highlights it's seriously like watching Bayless.

Stephon Marbury, before he was all nuts and crying on obscure internet feeds. You know, the one that could blow by any defender and score at will at the rim. Bayless has always reminded me of him.

I like this comparison. But I think Williams was better. Maybe a poor mans Jay Will.

He's been better about that this year ... :dunno:

Bayless is Bayless, but I would put him in the same boat as possibly a Kevin Johnson type player? Kevin was more assist type guard, but definitely a scorer first. Also, KJ was really good with dunking on people and getting to the line. I think Bayless could be like him. Maybe not as good, but similar in the style of play.

Poor man's?

You don't know what you're talking about.

Before the accident he was a 13/6 PG. The only reason why I compare them is because they have similar size and skill set. Jerryd is more athletic.

Jerryd has got a looooooooong way to go until you can put him in the same company as KJ. Right now he's looking a bit like Vinnie Johnson (and even that comparison is premature)

Two players that JB remind me of in terms of play and body style.

1. Terry Porter: TP was put together a lot like Bayless. He was also not a natural point guard when he came in the league. TP was great at going to the hole in his younger years before over relying on his jump shot. JB has the potential to be more explosive, but I don't know if he can be as unselfish.

2. Robert Pack: His body is almost a carbon copy. Pack had a good career in the NBA and it would be respectable if Bayless turned out as good. But JB has a lot more potential and natural talent.

Robert Pack? Career 8.9 PPG Robert Pack? The guy had some ability but could never stay healthy. Bayless already is as good as Pack ever was. I expect far bigger things from JB in the future.

Wow. That would be great. Unfortunately, Bayless is nowhere near the PG Porter was and never will be.

In his 2nd season, Porter averaged 9.5 assists per 36 minutes. Bayless is averaging 3.5 this year.

Easily the best comparison for Bayless is Ben Gordon.

God if anything I hope he's an accurate ben Gordon

i dont see much gordon in him besides that they're both combo guards

The Packman was 10 times the defender Bayless is, and a far better playmaker.

Bayless's obvious strength is scoring. He's fairly average otherwise.
