Best PG/SGs coming in the draft?

I'm looking at the mock draft on ESPN.com and it said that Beal is the first choice (#5 pick) for a SG/PG combo. Then it lists Lillard #2 (#7 pick) for a quick scoring PG. Then Kendall Marshall as #3 (#9 in the draft) which is the truest PG coming into the draft. Then, Jeremy Lamb as #4 (#13 in the draft) a defensive minded SG. And Finally, Austin Rivers as #5 (#14 in the draft) a big time scoring SG that seems undersized.

I'm wondering how many of you feel about the guards and their position in the draft. Do you agree or disagree with ESPN's scouts?

Chad Ford is smart enough I guess. As for his ranking and descriptions, it mostly dovetails with other publicly available draft analyses of these guys, so ... I dunno, seems fine.

This is a tough question pre combine. Assuming Beal grew slightly, he is head and shoulders (no pun intended) ahead of everyone else. IMO, J. Lamb has the best chance to be an elite level player in the back court of anyone in the draft, but he also has the best chance of being the laziest player in the draft. Rivers really should have stayed in school, and is way too immature to be a pro. Also thinks he is better than he is. At PG, Lillard and Marshall are the only two worth anything close to a lottery pick. Marshall is Andre Miller and Lillard is a shoot first PG that. IMO, will struggle to play PG on the next level. I'd prefer Teague late int he first or Machado in the second, while signing anyone but Nash

I like Beal, but it sure doesn't look like POR will be getting him, he appears to be a top 5 lock and POR won't be drafting there....

I like Lamb, great size, good scorer...a little risk there but he could be good...

Lillard makes me nervous, I just don't know enough about him....quite frankly taking either Marshall or Lillard with a top 10 pick seems like a reach for need IMO...

I'd have Waiters higher if he weren't from Syracuse. I have never liked their players in the pros

Is he good? Are his teams good? I'm not sure I could find a starting 5 in the NBA with Syracuse players going back 20 years. First and second rounders since 92'

With that said, Lamb was still a very efficient scorer inside the arc as a sophomore, able to use an array of floaters and smoothly pull up in mid-range, making things look easy at times. His 60% on 2-pointers this season was actually the highest of any shooting guard in our top 100.

Marshall's 10.7 assists per 40 minutes game adjusted this season rank the highest of any player in the history of our database (which goes back to 2001/2002). He's also #1 all-time in Pure Point Ratio by a large margin, while his 3.51 Assist-Turnover Ratio ranks 3rd all-time..

When looking at Marshall's game from an NBA perspective, his passing ability is clearly his greatest selling point, and it's hard to overstate how good of a passer he is and how great a feel he has for managing a game.

He's going to sneak into the top-10.

"But when you get up in him and deny him the ball and make him work for his shot, he doesn't seem to be the most competitive guy. But he's good. He can shoot it. Agreed. Both are similar physically albeit at different positions, but I think Lamb has shown a higher skill level.

It's gonna be interesting what happens with the sg position if they just happen to draft either Beal of Lamb. Do they get rid of Williams or Matthews?

yeah, dumping Williams' contract, to create more space in free agency. Obviously depends on who else has fallen to 11. Probably not all that worthwhile, since we can stretch Williams, and shave money off his cap hit, but there's a difference of close to a million in the 11 and 20 picks, and then either the million from stretch, or 3 million from Shawne's, so a saving of 2-4 million for free agency. Obviously depends on who we nabbed with NJ's pick as well.

Might it be better to stretch him instead and keep the lottery talent? Then buy a pick down in the late teens to 20's?
