Three of my favorites

American Dream Pizza on NE Glisan

Flying Pie Pizza on Stark (and various other locations)

Denicola's on Powell

American Dream is ok.

Flying Pie, order the Miss Piggy.

Denicola's, very good toppings, most bland crust ever. Ruins the pizza.

Any on the West side?

Try MOD Pizza in Lake Oswego. Lots of toppings to choose from and you can have as much as you want of each topping for as many toppings or whatever toppings you like, all for one price. Get the self serve soft drink which includes decent lemonade because their beer selection sucks and they don't have pitchers of draft, only bottles.

I will not eat at MOD pizza until Lebron becomes a Blazer.

Stark street pizza. down the street from flying pie.

pietros in milwaukie.

if you are up for a road trip, shakeys pizza up north. I think the only one left is near Everett though.

I like a crispy crust though. Not for everyone.

I actually met up with a person at Mod Pizza on Halsey to sell a laptop and was amazed at the line they had waiting to order a pizza. Spoke to one guy there who said the pizza's are good, but have never have had a chance to give them a try.

Pizzicato is good. Life of Pie. Escape from
NY on 23rd. Pietro’s.

Flying Pie is overrated. Way too greasy. Not a fan of the doughy crust.

Pietro's!

Pietro's is good as I would usually order a pizza from there on my sales trip to the Medford area and occasionally in town as well.

pizzas I have yet to try but is always the highest or one of the highest ranked pizzas is Apizza Scholls on Hawthorne as well as Ken's Artisan Pizza on about 26th and Stark.

I'm a chewy pizza kinda guy....dont care for crispy or crunchy pizza

We have Pizza Rock here. Amazing place and they have multiple different types of pizza and multiple ovens for the different styles. Mmmmm

Pizza is a really difficult one. If you were born in Chicago, as an example, you would think all pizza in Portland isn't even pizza. Me personally, I hate New York style pizza. There is just so much that goes into a pizza pie that it's nearly impossible to find perfection. I would say make it yourself but how many of us even have a (insert preferred pizza cooking method) stove. My point is, pizza comes down to personal preference on four main ingredients; crust, sauce, cheese, and toppings. Each valued differently by each person. The most contentious issue for me about pizza is pineapple. Get it the fuck out.:hairout:

Now that I've concluded my bitch about the difficulties in finding a perfect pizza, here are my four favorite makers of my favorite dish:

Pietro's is probably the closest to my preference in the Portland Metro area.
Giovanni's Mountain Pizza (Hwy 22)
Ugo's Pizza (Dallas) FYI: If you like mushrooms, I don't, just a heads up that they come out of a can :nerd:
Paddington's (South Commercial St., Salem)

MOD pizza is the shit. Definitely my favorite. And there's a location pretty much closer to everywhere in the metro area.

Ye Olde Pizza Shoppe in Newberg was a staple growing up.

Once in a while I like Chicago Pizza. When I lived in St. Louis, all they served was NY style. Thin and crusty.

By the way, Giavanni's started in Beaverton, Oregon and still has one there. Yep, thick crust. Very good. Informal joint (after all it's famous for pizza). They serve other good Italian food. My wife doesn't like it so we don't go there. Yes, she yanks the chain attached to the ring through my nose away from there. I go where she tells me to go, pulling the wagon behind me.

I don't know if I would consider NY style crispy... Chicago is just a totally different beast. Nothing against it, was just in for a rude awaking when I ordered a full one for myself and had leftovers for days.

I did not know that about Giavanni's. The original owners of the Mountain Pizzeria sold around 10-15 years ago and opened up a shop in Sublimity. Also delicious, especially the breadsticks. Panezanellie Breadstick Shoppe. Who knows, they may have sold that by now too. Haven't lived in that area in quite some time. I consider it an interesting way to franchise, but that is a business question not a pizza one.

I hate Chicago style. Too heavy. So much crust and sauce, you could put poop on it and have no clue what you’re eating.

That being said, when we are in Chicago, we go to Giordano’s and are ready to sleep by 8pm because it’s so heavy (we also have it shipped in for everyone Halloween).

When I worked at Tektronix in Beaverton, some of us went out for what we called Payday Dinner. This was every two weeks on a Friday. The Beaverton Giovannni's was the place we went to the most often.

By the way, Sublimity is part way out to our favorite campground in the 50s, Breitenbush, near Detroit Dam.

So many mod pizzas that they’re even putting one in Mac...
My sis took us to Mikey's pizza place in Mac when we were visiting this summer. We got some crazy pizza with onion rings, blue cheese, BBQ and bunch of other crap. It was pretty good actually.

WARNING, WARNING, WARNING

Even if faced with death, do not eat Little Ceasar's pizza. I repeat Do Not Eat Little Ceasar's pizza.

You're welcome.

Little Caesar had this pizza last year that had BBQ sauce instead of tomato sauce and was topped with brisket and bacon. For a cheap pizza it was really good. Really good.

I am more of a calzone person myself. I would have mine prepared at Leonardi's (right by Winco) when I lived in Corvallis. Take and bake.

Back in the day, we would get a take and bake calzone from Papa Murphy's.

DeNicola's also made an awesome calzone.

Pizza places I liked for the pizza: Escape From New York Pizza and New York, NY Pizza (sadly it shut down a while back).

Appizza Scholls

Life Of Pie
Lovely’s 50/50
Tastebud

And still one of my all time favorite pizzas, The Abby’s Special (hopefully washed down with a pitcher of Henry’s Dark....if that’s even brewed anymore)

Mikey’s ain’t bad. They make sure their sauce is noticed, though. There’s some serious spice there!
