Best Restaurant in Portland?

Not surprised they'd say that. That being said, it's not the best restaurant in town. At least not food or drink-wise.
Everyone has different tastes. And technically they said favorite not best. (My bad on that)

Would you say it is in the top 5? And what of the other one that they seemed to like, the Ox?

Surprised it wasn't Morton's or Ruth's Chris.

City Grill has a great view, but the food is not top notch.

Ringside should have also gotten votes.

I don't think most millionaire NBA players go in for the trendy foodie spots that Portland residents favor. They want meat-and-potatoes consistency.

Maybe this is why people hate Portlanders; they don't even know what restaurants in town are national chains?

I'm sure Portlanders do, but perhaps a good percentage of the suburbanites don't?
Let's add El Gaucho to the best "Portland" restaurant list.

Nah, I get why it's their favorite, believe me. It's why I said it's not the best drink-wise or food-wise. These guys are generally not looking for a sophisticated night of food and drinks. They're looking for a popular, somewhat trendy place. There are a lot of things to look at there at PCG beyond the vast views of Portland below. It's a crowded, trendy place that is packed until closure. If I were a guy in my mid-20's with deep pockets and looking for some attention (beyond that of strippers), I'd probably spend a fair amount of time at PCG.

It was never my spot though. I was always at VQ and places of that ilk from the day I turned 21.

Dunno, its been a while but isn't PCG a good spot to pick up chicks at Happy Hour?

That's what I was getting at with my post. It's not just happy hour. That place is packed most evenings, especially Thursday-Saturday from about 5pm 'til close.

not a fan. Their food prices are too high for the quality of food you get.

My favorite steak Resturant was some burger looking place just a bit outside the city. I can't remember the name for the life of me

Chipotle was Kaman's favorite. Barton's was Cheesecake factory. Stotts didn't pick. More than a few PCGs.

In a related note, I had my first voodoo donuts at close to midnight on Saturday with my cousin and her family. It was cool and all, but fuck a bunch of waiting in a line like it's a club to get an overpriced donut at midnight.

That was kinda the point of the comment. Another "nice", over-priced chain restaurant.
Living in Portland there is no reason to eat at a chain restaurant (unless it's a local chain).

Since I've bought a grass-fed beef and worked with my own seasoning/grilling/side pairings, I can't buy a steak anymore. I'll get seafood now.

Yeah it's weird! I've become quite the snob with beef. But that place I just talked about is grass fed prime beef. The quality is superb! Still a little expensive, but I will pay for good quality

I didn't catch that part of the discussion. I just read putting them in the best Portland restaurants

To go along with my "no reason to eat at a chain" comment I'll add that there is no reason to wait in a line to eat in Portland. None of the places that have those sorts of lines (Voodoo, Salt & Straw, etc) are worth the wait.

There was implied tongue-in-cheekiness, which does not always translate well on the webz.

Benihanas is probably one of the best chains ever. Justsayin.

Anyone who purchases a steak is a fool. Especially those 60 dollar ones at Ringside. It simply makes no sense to purchase corn fed beef.

Screen Door might be an exception to that rule

Yes. Yes it is.

There's something to be said for a well managed line, too. Por Que No is always out the door, but is quick enough, you get your margarita early, and there's always a table when you're done ordering.

Pok Pok, Toro Bravo, Tasty N' Sons, and Pine State are all worth the wait.

And Blue Star donuts are awesome and I don't even like Donuts that much.

Benihana's sucks. I hate that place. I ate there free for my Bday though (Seattle location).

Pine State is good, but not worth an hour of my time.

Blue Star is really good, though. I like Coco Donuts better, but I'm weird.

PSU farmer's market location has usually short wait. Whenever I'm in town I try to go though. I think it's worth it if your hungry

Good call on that location (provided you are walking there; parking is a nightmare). I lived by the one on Belmont back when it was there, and the hipster line sucked the enjoyment out of it. I could have ground the wheat, raised the chickens, and slaughtered the pig myself in less time than it took to get that sandwich.
