I'm watching the Faker vs OKC game right now and I want everybody to watch SportsCenter tonight. A certain 6'7" black man that wears #24 for LA just made one of the sickest shots I[ve ever seen in my life!!!!! Harden pushed him baseline and as #24 is falling out of bounds BEHIND the backboard he shoots over the shotclock and backboard and swishes it! Whether you hate him or not, that is the toughest shot I've ever seen! GO BLAZERS!

Nevermind, the shot sucked then. I thought he was 6'7".

I thought you couldn't shoot from behind and over the backboard? When did I miss that rule change?

That's what I thought. I remember those "NBA is FANTASTIC" commercials back in the 80's and there is that very famous shot by Bird where he's falling out of bounds and shoots it over the corner and makes it. That's the last time I saw anything like this. But this was from behind! They counted it. Check it out tonight!

I remember seeing that come into play in college basketball last year, but I don't remember it in the NBA. And I think I remember seeing several shots from behind the backboard in recent years..

You can't shoot it from out-of-bounds air space behind the backboard. You can shoot it from anywhere on the baseline and if it has to go over some part of the backboard/shot-clock, it's still legal.

I believe that's the rule.

Found it

These guys say it didn't count!

Why is that such a hard shot? It's the exact same shot as if he were in the key 3 feet from the rim and arched the ball super high. Big deal. I'm positive "The" HCP could make that shot.

This one counted! Guess they changed the rule!

Someone clearly dislikes Kobe.

You try shooting it like that and not hit some part of the backboard or shot clock. Beyond that, he was being bumped (missed foul call) and falling out of bounds. Yea, good luck making that sir.

I have made some sick shots in my day, but during game action with a defender on you! That shit was amazing!

These guys obviously don't have jobs!

Call me a Kobe Hater. I think this was intentional. Up 27-10, beginning of a rout. Perfect time to try that shot you've been working on after practice. Look, Harden throws his arms up in the air and there is not much contact at all. Certainly not enough to push Kobe that far under the basket. Kobe flops back, probably figured that he'll try the circus shot and if it doesn't go in he'll get the foul called. Guy is such a show.

Well, it was intentional since he was trying to draw a foul. It was probably a good no-call, but I don't think he really had intentions on making it, and I don't know if this is really a shot he would be practicing, unless it's after practice and he's playing HORSE with teammates.

However, this doesn't make it any less impressive. That shot was completely insane and incredibly difficult.

That's an amazing shot.

Although, if I may channel my inner Maris - Leave it to the anal rapist to make a shot from behind (the basket).

further proof that stern has magnets in the basketballs for all laker games!

Man, C'mon! That is probably the worst post in the history of this place! The guy makes a ridiculous shot! Who gives a fuck what the circumstances are. Quit drinking HATORADE and respect an amazing bucket! If you have ever laced 'em up and played real basketball, you have to give props on this one.

So, why does the shot count sometimes, but not other times? I always heard it never counts, but apparently sometimes it does, from what people are saying in this thread.

Awesome shot! I'm no Kobe luvr but that was pretty sweet.

If it's against the rules, please quote section of rule book, etc...

I think 1(e)(9) covers it.

e. On the following infractions, the ball shall be awarded to the opposing team out-of-bounds on the nearest sideline at the free throw line extended:
(9) Ball passing directly behind backboard

Assuming that he shot from behind the backboard (rather than from one side of the backboard) then it should have been a turnover.

Ref fail. As usual.

well start disallowing short corner 3's where the dudes feet are right next to the baseline then
