I don't often wear steel toed boots when doing construction work, but given that I have the talonavicular joint of an 80 year old and have to wear orthotics, comfortable boots are important to me. For that reason, I use light hiking boots. I have two favorites in particular.

They are stable, you can be on your feet all day on concrete with them, they're relatively light and can take a beating.

For many years I wore cheap-ass corks I'd buy at G.I. Joes, I think. Then one day I woke up and decided to become 20 lbs lighter and 2 inches shorter.

a bunch of guys that i know that work for the steel workers union in boston swear by redwings, say they feel like basketball shoes but will last forever

and
