All three of these 'bigs' have been rumored to be available. Since Whiteside would require CJ in trade, I'll remove him from this discussion and concentrate on those available who would allow Dame/CJ to stay intact. I have been led to believe the Blazers want to try a small move first before moving one of their franchise pieces....unless they are blown away by a deal they can't refuse.

Since none of these guys play big minutes, they are all shown at per/36 to get more of an apples-to-apples comparison.

Chandler....10.0.....15.4.....0.8......0.6.....0.8.... .679.... .667.....$12.4M/$13M/$13.6M
Noel...........18.6......7.7.......0.8.....1.8......2.8..... .596... .647.....$4.4M - $5.8 QO in 2017/18
Nurkic........16.8.....12.2.....2.6......1.6......1.3...... .530... .524.....$1.9M/$2.9M - $4.1M QO 18/19

Noel
has only played 10 games this year so it's a small sample size and he has historically rebounded in the 9+ range for 36 minutes. Nurkic has the best contract and can pass....but is the worst FT shooter. I wouldn't touch Chandler because of that contract and he just isn't a rim protector anymore. Noel is the most mobile which would fit Stotts' "defense" because you know he would be switched out on a PG half of the time.....negating his rip protecting abilities.

Which would you like.....or is there another available big like Greg Monroe you would like to throw in the mix?

Need to know where they get their shots, IOW are they even capable of hitting mid range shot.

I HATE bad free throw shooters. Not. Clutch.

And clearly we need a big man who can defend. How would you rank their defense?

Without giving up CJ or Dame, easy choice.

Noel brings what we need.
Nurkic would be lateral move vs Plumlee.
No interest in Chandler.

Based on your brief analysis: I'd prefer Noel (if in fact he is a better rebounder than those stats)

The more I read about John Henson the more I want him. Elite rim protection/shot blocking stats per 36m. His blocks/per 36 last season placed him behind only Whiteside and his rim protection stats compared favorably to Gobert. I could see the Bucks being interested in a big that can space the floor, so maybe Leonard and something for Henson?

Moving Plums to the 4 and adding Noel or Nurkic is what I would hope we can accomplish. Make Plums shoot 500 midrange shots a day until he can hit a few.

Vonleh really needs to take a step up soon, these glimpses of real talent are frustrating.

^^^ @Scalma ....I like Henson as well but don't know of his availability. I've seen mention of Monroe being moved for Whiteside. Not sure if that would make Henson available or not...but I do like him although his blocks are down significantly per/36 this season.

Different types of defense. Chandler used to play it all over at an elite level. Noel is mobile and can block shots while defending the perimeter if needed. Nurkic is more of an interior position defender that doesn't elevate as well as Noel but is a much bigger presence in the paint. Don't expect him to venture outside of the lane much though.

I like Henson a lot.

Last week I posted this trade, but idk if Milwaukee would bite.

POR: Jabari Parker, John Henson

MIL: CJ McCollum, POR 2017 1st round pick (Top 8 protected), CLE 2017 1st round pick

CLE: Al-Farouq Aminu

BRK: Festus Ezeli, rights to Dani Diez, MIA 2021 2nd round pick (POR owned)

What exactly are we looking for in a big? When we talk Noel and Henson we are talking players under 230 lbs. Is shot blocking the main criteria? Remember we were a better defensive team with Lopez and he did not block a lot of shots.

Are we thinking PF or center for these guys?

I'd say shot blocking/help defense is #1 main need right now in a big. If you can't get that, get a guy who can put up 15-20 Consistently.

Plumlee is listed at 235 lbs and has nice hops but a very short wingspan for a center. There are just a few 'bulky' centers anymore and of those, not many are very good offensively.

Do we even know if Noel is still available? They've been playing him alongside Embiid and have had a winning streak. My guess is they've decided what was obvious long ago: Okafor is the useless one.

You're not sure Milwaukee would bite? By Milwaukee do you mean Portland?? McCollum is worth a lot more than Jabari Parker and John Henson, but we should give up Aminu and a first rounder as well?? I don't care how good of a season Parker is having, guys like him aren't as hard to find as someone like McCollum.

T, What is out there that would prevent us from possibly going for both Noel and Nurkic? Could they exist together? Could Nurkic play the larger PF next to Noel in the paint?
Could they work together with our core of Dame/CJ/Harkless/Turner/Crabbe? (regardless of what we think, I DO think PA and NO feel this is their core for now)? Not that one of these core pieces might be used in the trade, though we know it isn't Dame or CJ, I think we have enough chips to get both.

Henson barely averages 20 minutes, he's definitely available imo. As for Monroe/Whiteside...........lol.

Jabari is legit dude. He's the best player in the deal. He's only 21 and is averaging 21/6/3 and shooting .498/.414/.734

I'm still going with Ibaka. Three times all league defensive. 2.0 blocks per 36, better than any of those guys. Shooting the three at 37.8% this year. Free throws at .800.
Standing reach 3" more than anyone on our roster. Still only 27 years old. I don't think he'll cost anymore than Noel.

Apparently Embiid went to management and said he wanted to play with Noel.
+ apparently Noel is Embiid's bff.
Pending Philly not being stupid. I doubt Noel is traded without another injury/issue with management.

I really like Henson, but Meyers wouldn't interest me at all if I were the Bucks GM. What are their needs?

Do we even know if Noel is still available? They've been playing him alongside Embiid and have had a winning streak. My guess is they've decided what was obvious long ago: Okafor is the useless one.

I agree, I think Noel's no longer available "cheap" (i.e. for anything Portland has that doesn't include Lillard/McCollum).

Noel will be moved. Bet. They're not going to pay him. Don't fall for the stories, most likely put out there by the 6ers themselves. They just want to maintain leverage, and I don't blame them. The only question is will Okafor be moved as well. I think he will, but there's no rush with him.

And who cares about Noel being friends with Embiid anyway? That didn't stop him from speaking out about his situation. What changed? He's still a bench player who sits at the end of games when it matters. These guys are professionals. It's not summer camp lol.

Tyson Chandler is a 15 year veteran and that's what the Blazers need. I don't want to keep going backwards getting young guys having to develop them. The Blazers are ready to win now.

Meyers could help them a lot if he could just consistently knock down a couple 3's a game, get a couple buckets near the hoop and grab 6+ boards a night on a regular basis. Not too much to ask from a 7'1", athletic center who can shoot but it's not something Meyers has shown he can do.....yet.

You are serious with that thought?

I think whatever the Sixers decide to do they need to keep in consideration the long term health of Joel Embiid and will he stay healthy? Greg Oden in his second season after micro fracture came in and looked good for the first 20 games and then went down due to other knee injury. I would keep come sort of depth and talent in the front court due to this reason. Okafor would stay and I would try to move Noel to keep the peace on the team. Noel wants more time and if he can get more time elsewhere they should look to move him if they can get what they want in return.

As a Blazer fan, I wouldn't mind at seeing Noel on the team. Love his age, his size and what he can potentially become up front for this team. The question is, is this GM competent to pull the trigger on such a meaningful trade. I have my doubts.

You don't think they are ready or could be??

Our record is not indicative of such a thought. Sorry.

Let me ask you this. You think a lineup of:

Dame/CJ/Harkless/Aminu/Chandler is gonna compete with Curry/KD/D.Green/K.Thompson/ZUZU

Lets break down a few teams and do a starting 5 comparison.

Portland vs Cleveland

Dame>Irving(debatable)
CJ>Korver
Harkless<LBJ
Aminu<Love
Chandler
>Thompson

Portland VS Clips

Dame< CP3
CJ
>Reddick
Harkless>A Moute(debatable)
Aminu<Griffin
Chandler<Jordan

Portland vs SA

Dame> Parker
CJ>Green
Harkless<Kawhi
Aminu<LMA
Chandler<Gasol

Now do you see the trend there?
Other than Thompson being a bit of an anomaly, Even if we get Chandler, we have not improved the position enough to be equal or better than the contenders out there right now. He is on a rapid decline and will make big money next year. Its a short term rental that doesnt move the needle enough to be competitive with the best. We will truly tie our hands up and still not go far.
