It's true. I've witnessed all my life the generous poor and the stingy rich. When someone has nothing, they have nothing to lose. When people are on top looking down, they tend to develop fear of falling.

(I'm not saying everyone is like this. I hope that's obvious, but perhaps not.)

A lot of these guys grew up poor--of course money matters to them. Acting like they're evil, stupid or non-competitive for caring about money is silly. If I grew up poor, I wouldn't just want money for myself, I'd want to create generational wealth so my descendants wouldn't have to worry about money either.

Also, it's really easy to tell us what your decision would be when you're not in that situation. It's like people who explain what they'd do in the face of a gunman, especially to criticize those who actually had to deal with it. Maybe you think you know, but you don't know until that extra $50-100M or gun is in your face.

The other amusing thing about this is that if a player does jump to a better team, they're called non-competitive for not alpha-dogging their "own team" to a title. Kevin Durant wants to be the best! Are you celebrating that? David West actually took less money to join the Spurs and was called a coat-tail rider and was laughed at when the Spurs were bounced from the playoffs. West is a pretty good example of why players should take the money--money is guaranteed, winning a title isn't.

Allen Crabbe is most often mentioned as an asset to be able to acquire a defensive minded 'big'. But what might he be worth? His per/36 points are 20% behind Nurkic and even more so behind Noel. He gets 40% less assists than back-up big man Nurkic and shoots the lowest FG% although his 3pt% is now up to #7 in the entire NBA. (CJ is #21, Harkless is #94....Dame didn't make the Top-100)

So if they want a shooter, they would be hard pressed to find one better. If they need much else out of him, they might look elsewhere.

Certainly the potential is there for him to be more productive out of the shadow of Dame/CJ. In terms of overall game, he has had opportunities to set up teammates especially as teams begin to pay more attention to him. Just haven't seen him do it yet.

On its face this sounds halfway logical. However, what you're saying is that someone is to give up the possibility of adding half of their net worth to their total net worth. I don't know bruh... I don't think it's that simple. You'd have to at least consider it.
