Meh, it's a plane. It likely has an onboard office, which makes it a worthwhile expenditure for a CEO. It's five hours of working roundtrip vs. seven or eight than sitting around?

This fake rage by the press is a joke. I guarantee you network anchors fly private jets, yet news divisions are posting record losses.

But the press isn't asking for $25 Billion payout from Taxpayers. It just show how out of touch many of the CEO's of large companies are. They bitch about not having enough money and want Uncle Barak to bail them out, yet the company is doing well enough to fly Private jets around the country. I'm a free marketeer. If you want the govenment to bail you out, then cut back and fly commercial.

My point is, given the opportunity cost of a CEO of a Big Three automaker, it may be less expensive to fly in a private plane.

It costs $20,000 to fly a Private Jet from Michigan to Washington. $837.00 to fly first class. Granted, math wasn't my best subject, but I don't believe that is less expensive. Plus the CEO of GM made $26 Million last year. Again, I'm a capitalist, but if you can afford to pay your CEO that much, don't bitch about the line workers making $40/hour and saying that is the reason your going bankrupt.

If they want our tax dollars, I mean our great-great-great grandchildren's tax dollars, they should have to sell their toys and ride the bus.

Not our fault they're such incompetent losers. And that is indeed what they are, and nothing more.

Well, $26 million per year is about $13,000 per hour, so if the CEO wastes 2 hours in the TSA line, then you've lost
money vs. renting that jet for $20K.

Of course, not all of that $26 million is salary, and so on.

My problem is this.........GM hasn't done shit in years and the CEO makes 26 million a year. That is ridiculous and no matter what kind of free market excuse you want to give it is just plain bullshit.

I would do that job for what I make now and love it. I would take a fucking paycut to do that job.

These companies have people who don't love cars designing the fucking things. I have read many an article about the people they hire from design school, none of which have a passion for cars.

I was in love with cars when I was three years old and still am. You can say I wouldn't know what to do and yada yada yada but I couldn't bankrupt them any faster than they are already going.

Surely you are not suggesting that ANYONE running one of these companies is worth $13,000 an hour?

Judging solely on performance, it might be more profitable to keep him AWAY from conducting business as much as possible. Put him on a slow boat to China.

I'm not suggesting that, no. But the fact remains that they are compensating him at that level, regardless of what I think.

It might indeed, although his 2nd in command might be even worse, you never know.
