Statues are low level. They need to burn the constitution. The real one.

Only then will their victory be absolute.

Good question but they were not part of the main thrust of peaceful demonstrators.

If you can't identify them, one can only assume they were part of the mainstream demonstrators

Crazy thing is, if I'm not mistaken, Grant help defeat the south right? To END slavery.

Really fascinated how far they will let these people go. What will they attack next?

Art museums?

Churches?

Historical documents?

Yes, when I think of Confederate generals and historic slave owners I immediately associate art museums, churches and historical documents.

If you are for tearing down Presidents statues, think of how many people have their last names.
Wonder if the courts will have a run on name change?

All this retroactive condemnation of historical figures is a bit over the top, IMO. I think we need to keep things in context with respect to the era in which they occurred. Back in the day there were different laws/norms that have been amended to allow for a change in judgement. Here's a list of US Presidents who owned slaves...is it just a matter of time before the Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial are torn down?...and will all be stricken from the history books?

One killed, another injured during shooting inside Seattle’s cop-free zone

One person was killed and another injured when a shooting erupted in Seattle’s autonomous zone early Saturday, and police are now inside the “no-cop” zone investigating, according to reports.

Seattle police remained Saturday afternoon in the so-called Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, gathering spent shell casings and assembled in riot gear at the border, Newsweek reported.

There were conflicting reports on whether police and fire department were allowed into the zone, with some reports saying that police encountered hostile crowds after a large group assembled on the edge of the protest zone to secure the victim. But both victims had been driven by private vehicles to a local hospital, according to a blog post.

Videos recorded inside CHAZ showed volunteers scrambling to help the victims.

Police confirmed the shooting in a Twitter post Saturday, but offered no additional details.

Two gunshot victims were treated at Harborview Medical Center, spokeswoman Susan Gregg told the Seattle Times.

One died, she said, and the other was in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

A security employee working in the area reported seeing the shooter arrive in a black SUV and a 911 caller told police a man left the vehicle toting a rifle in the early morning hours at the end of Juneteenth celebrations, according to a local blog post.

Seattle police had abandoned the six-block area following threats to torch the East Precinct on June 8, following the death of George Floyd in the custody of Minneapolis police.

Mike Pence says 'all lives matter' when pressed to say 'black lives matter' but acknowledges Juneteenth and laments George Floyd's death as a tragedy
  • Pence made the remarks in interview with Philadelphia ABC affiliate
  • Anchor pressed him repeatedly to 'utter the words' black lives matter
  • Pence declined and responded that 'all lives matter in a very real sense'
  • He also acknowledged Juneteenth and called George Floyd's death a 'tragedy'

...and will all be stricken from the history books?

Who has said anything about striking anyone from the history books? History books are the correct place for them. Statues are about honoring people, not preserving history--we can remove statues without removing people from "history." We don't put up statues to Adolf Hitler, for example, but that doesn't mean he's been stricken from history. We just don't choose to honor him with a statue. I'm not saying all of these people are like Hitler, but it's an example of how statues are for memorializing people we would like to celebrate, not for preserving history. I'm fine with not having statues of people who marginalized and dehumanized significant chunks of our population.
