I like how he asks all these questions about why would the Clippers do it??? And then never gives an answer why.
Blake Griffin would literally lose a 100 Million or more in endorsements if he left the Clippers and came to Portland.
So is every player. If someone like Reddick gets traded to POR it doesn't make much of a difference. Blake has a no-trade clause. He would never come here as his situation there (team-wise) is just as good and his situation there money-wise can't be touched by us.He is one knee injury (or back injury) away from that same result.

You have the best PG in basketball feed Aldridge and he would be a monster in LA.I love how that guy says Griffin is better than Aldridge. I don't think it's that cut and dry.
Well all that says is Blake is a better power forward-which is debatable but this is a what have you done for me recently league and since Griffin is tearing it up in the playoffs so every talking head is going to say Griffin is better. Blake has little say, yes he can throw a fit and be upset but if CP3 would rather play with LA then this rumor actually has some weight, if he doesn't then it has no weight. Griffin could immediately request a trade once he got here, but thats all the power he really has.
While I agree with the first part, he would still make more money in LA hurt then he would make here hurt. He could probably have some role on a soap opera if he was hurt badly. Some more than others though. Blake's game is so dependent on his athleticism. Reminds me of Larry Johnson. I remember Johnson was extremely marketable until he lost his athleticism.
No, actually he would just block the trade to us as the article says he has a no-trade clause.Well all that says is Blake is a better power forward-which is debatable but this is a what have you done for me recently league and since Griffin is tearing it up in the playoffs so every talking head is going to say Griffin is better. I didn't think he would as don't you have to be with a team 10 years for that to be on the table? Plus some other stipulations. He doesn't have a no trade clause.
He doesn't have a No-trade clause. You can't get a No-Trade clause in your second contract and you just misread the articleNo, actually he would just block the trade to us as the article says he has a no-trade clause.
He’s under contract without a no-trade clause, so he wouldn’t have any formal power to block a trade[\quote]
I don't know if CP3 would rather say he wants to play with LMA or Blake but there has been a LOT of media talk over the last 4 years about how CP3 doesn't like how Blake plays and there games don't perfectly mesh and its lead to disputes.I didn't think he would as don't you have to be with a team 10 years for that to be on the table? With that said, I love LMA as much or more as the next guy but there is no way I see Chris Paul telling management he would rather have Aldridge than Blake.
I have heard that in the past but haven't heard any of that this year. Blake's game has really grown. Especially being a willing passer.I don't know if CP3 would rather say he wants to play with LMA or Blake but there has been a LOT of media talk over the last 4 years about how CP3 doesn't like how Blake plays and there games don't perfectly mesh and its lead to disputes.
I always wonder about this. Would he in fact lose his Kia endorsement if he were in Portland? People like to throw endorsement money around as a "Why" Portland is a bad fit. Is being in OKC hurting Kevin Durants chances? Or what about Lebron in Cleveland. I get it that back in the Day guys really wanted more endorsement money, they still do, but 20 years ago a lot of that money was coming from small local shops like Standard TV and Appliance. Anymore players make so much on their normal contracts that the small local opportunities really aren't worth the time or effort anymore. What really matters is being on a good team and having a marketable personality.Blake Griffin would literally lose a 100 Million or more in endorsements if he left the Clippers and came to Portland.
In this example you pose, no I don't think he would lose his current ones but I do think that he would get less new ones here than if he stayed put.I always wonder about this. A great example, being in Portland didn't stop Dame from getting $100 mill from Adidas.
David Lee (who isn't even a star) made a crap-ton in endorsement money when employed by the Knicks and that almost all dried up moving to the Warriors. I don't have the exact number but I bet Sly does as he brings it up quite often. How many Knicks are getting endorsement money?

Of course a superstar like Durant (Blake is not on his level even if he thinks so) is going to get sponsorship no matter where he is. But even Durant would get more than he currently does if he went to the Knicks.

From Forbes top NBA Endosement players with media market size Numbers are from 2013
Lebron $42 mil (Miami #19, Cle #17)
Kobe $34 mil (LA #2)
Rose $21 mil (Chi #3)
Durant $14 mil (OKC #45)
Wade $12 mil (Mia #19)
Carmelo $9 mil (NYC #1)
D Howard $7 mil (Hou #10)
Amare $7 mil (NYC #1)
Chris Paul $3 Mil (LA #2)
Gasol $3 mil (LA #2)
Westbrook $3mil (OKC #45)
Pierce $2mil (BKN #1)
Bosh $2mil (Mia #19)
D Williams $2mil (BKN #1)
Dirk $1 mil (Dal #5)
As I keep going what I see is that it makes a difference for middle tier players like Derion Williams, but top tier All Stars get paid no matter what.
in 2014 Griffin made $6.5 mil in endorsements
Lillard is making about $10 mill a year just form Adidas, in little ole Portland.
