I can honestly say I clicked on this not knowing who their person was.
The HCP's take on country....... if it isn't old school like Johnny Cash it's shit!
My one brush with country music....... Indianapolis, about 8 or 9 seasons ago on St. Patrick's Day, got stupid drunk in a tent with the singer who used to be married to Nicole Kidman! Can't remember his name, small guy all in black, and bought all the beers! I lost a TON of street cred that evening my friends!

If you haven't heard of Blake Shelton at this point, you are living under a fucking rock. Come on dude....

I don't listen to the radio. I am a music nut, and listen to everything from Hip Hop to Jazz to new and old rock.....even old school bluegrass. Why are you so surprised That i've never heard of him? Honestly wondering.

You seem much more redneck in person.

I mean I don't listen to country radio. I don't watch whatever the country MTV is. I don't watch the Country Grammys if they have them and don't follow anything that has to do with the Country music scene on any social media platform. Just curious why Nate is so blown away at my lack of knowledge of this hillbilly.

I've never heard a song from Blake Shelton but he's all over the Voice, to which then I have only seen bits of those episodes.

I like roots music, but don't listen to modern country. Have a great time at the show jfizz!

Thats where I know him from.

Every country musician has a dog song in their repertoire

its kind of counter intuitive, but most all bro country is marketed to females. a hot dude in tight pants. songs about having a job and being faithful. a guy who loves his dog, and knows how to work on cars. a guy who buys a 12 pack of bud light to share with you.

at least its not the super hardcore edgy bro country where they dress in sequins and silk and trucker hats and have sleeve tattoos and rap and do boy band covers.

Well, let's see..... he's on one of the biggest shows on television (The Voice), so he's constantly on TV. He's dating Gwen Stefani and he's all over the tabloids, so you probably have seen his picture in the checkout aisle. So unless you never watch NBC, or get food from stores in person, I'm a little surprised that you have never heard of him.

i have never seen an episode of the voice. i have never bought a tabloid. but i know way more about him than i should for some reason. stalker culture is so ingrained in our fame obsessed society, its like we are born knowing this shit. it seeps into our heads while we sleep.

I know there has been a couple of people from American Idol that have gone on to have decent careers in music, has anyone from the Voice made it big?

One of them, RaeLynn will be on tour with him. She has a song called God made Girls that was popular on top country stations.

Nobody from any of those singing shows has gone big in over 10-15 years. The people you're thinking of were all on the earliest seasons of the show. People like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, etc. Since then, there have been so many singing shows and none of the people have done anything. American Idol, The X Factor, America's Got Talent, The Voice...... If anything, those shows just prove that singing is not a rare talent. I have no idea why people admire singers so much. There's a million people who can sing. Hell, most of the singers on the voice are more talented than the fucking coaches  IE Adam Levine is a horrible singer.

Meh. People think differently of singers. One of my good friends has a degree in music and has studied music his whole life. He swears adam levine is an amazing talent with his vocals.

I always bring up people i like, such as luke bryan, and he thinks he is terrible.

Adam Levine is awful. I'm not saying he's not a talented musician, or writer, but his voice is extremely average.

Eh, I watched the first season of American Idol way back when..... and that was it for that show. I liked America's Got Talent because they had some weird acts, but the only people who ever won were singers.... I do like the Voice though. It's really only entertaining in the blind auditions, and after that I stop caring. Never watched the X Factor though.
