For the love of god I'm not insisting that the Blazers shouldn't look at other options and/or insert Oden in the deal at all costs. In a hypothetical situation where our only option is a deal involving both Oden and Batum, I would pull the trigger. That is where our opinions differ.
Yeah, we do disagree.
I think you are giving away the farm. There is a point where trading for a superstar who likely only plays one non-lockout season before becoming a free agent (and has a recent injury history), becomes too expensive. And, it becomes a self-fullfilling result - you give up too much and take on too much salary hamstringing the team's future moves, then said Superstar is more likely to not be satisfied with the team he is on, and the same advisors that ushered him out of New Orleans try to do the same to get him out of Portland.
It is not worth gutting the team and taking on massive salary when the risk of that result is so high.
As you will find out, the Blazers won't make that trade: (Oden, Batum, Miller & Pryz for Paul & Okafor)
