I think Kaleb's official title should be BFF.
 
Even though Malone and D'Antoni are my top picks I'll gladly take a package deal of Brian Shaw and Roy Hibbert!
 
Jason Quick on Brian Berger's show just now (paraphrased):

"I've talked to Jerome Stanley (Shaw's agent) 3 times in the last week. The first time, I asked him if the Blazers had reached out to them about the coaching position, and he said 'no.' The second time, I asked if the Blazers had reached out, and he said they hadn't, but if they did, it would be very 'hush-hush'. The third time, I asked him the same question, and he simply said, 'no comment.' "

We have the potential to be a very good defensive team. I want a coach that actually makes us an elite defensive team (as opposed to a coach who has the reputation as a defensive coach). I don't supposed Tom Thib. is walking through that door, though.

G.m Olshey says he will make coaching interviews during vegas summer league. Looks like magic have it down to shaw & malone

Olshey said he'll have a list of (coaching) names available by end of week. Most of candidates are on NBA teams. Interviews will be in Vegas
 
So he doesn't even have names yet, or he will have names for the press
 
I'm guessing names for the press since he mentions they're on NBA teams.
 
it's interesting how much shit Kahn gets for his hiring process of Kurt Rambis, yet no one seems to give a rip about Portland's process right now.
 
This is the process to AVOID hiring a guy like Rambis. Thanks for the example.

That's because Kahn is a fucking idiot. Olshey has explained his process, and while about 1/2 disagree with it, it's his process

How's the process any different? Kahn was hired right before the draft, then waited until long after the draft to hire the assistant with the hot name.

My guess is they're waiting to see what kind of roster they're left with at the end of free agency. If it's rebuild time, then that's a particular kind of coach. If they somehow get Hibbert (which they won't) then that's a different type of coach.

My feeling is that the Blazers are about to endure at least 2 more years of pain and as long as the guy they get (or keep if they elevate Kaleb Canales from interim to full-time) can teach a little bit and let the youngins get a lot of OJT then it won't matter if it's a name guy or not.

Because Kahn drafted 3 point guards in the same draft and then hired a coach with a specialty in the triangle offense.

2 PGs if you understand how trades work on draft day. During the draft, if you trade a pick, you make the pick for the other team, and then trade the rights to the player. That's whay happened with Lawson. Wolves got to their pick, realized all that was on the board was PGs, so they offered to the pick to Denver for their future first from Charlotte. Denver said yes and told us to draft Lawson for them. It's not difficult to figure this out, but some people would rather go with the bumper sticker response, as opposed to intelligent thought. "3 PGs LMAO!!!"

Lot of heavy rumors that Sacramento was high on Jonny Flynn, and there was a potential trade of #6(Flynn) and #17(James Johnson) for Tyreke Evans, but then Chicago grabbed Johnson. I've heard this told to me directly from people that work in the organization, so I believe it, but my quick argument back was, "Wtf didn't you do more to move up to get Johnson, then?" Of course I think Rubio/Evans would have been a brutally bad fit together. Two guys that have to have the ball and neither can shoot? Yuck.

During Rambis's interview he pushed this dream of Showtime Lakers. It's all he talked about when he first got hired. Run and gun basketball. Which made sense. If you read between the lines with what Kahn was saying, and really any of the smart fans, the intention was to build a Showtime Lakers or SSOL Suns type team. 9 teams have won NBA championships in my lifetime, I think Kahn was thinking that the chances of building an NBA Champion in Minnesota are pretty slim. Partly because, like I said, only 9 teams have won in the last 30 years, and it's Minnesota, not a hot bed for free agents like LA, NY, or now Miami. So his intention was to build the most entertaining team he could. A fast paced, high scoring team that could at least be competitive in the playoffs, even if it meant second round exists like the Suns.

So with that all in mind, Rambis wasn't a bad choice, especially with all the credit he was getting for the Lakers defense.

Problem was he promised Showtime Lakers, but instead brought a broken triangle.

Lot of us jokingly called it the Tri-Force offense.

Then of course his comments to the media that defending the 3 point line wasn't that big of a deal, he lost all supporters in a hurry.
 
It never ceases to amaze me why someone would willingly seek out another fanbase just to argue their own points. They're never going to convince anyone that they're right. Maybe it's the innate need to be heard apart from their own fandom. <shrug>

Flynn was a horrible pick by Kahn and I'm sticking to that! Probably won't be able to convince you of that though.

Personally I would rather discuss with fans of a different fanbase with different ideas than to parrot the same crap over and over with people who believe the same thing that I do.

It's like Dems/Reps that only read their party's rhetoric, or Christians/Muslims/Jews/Buddhists that only read about their own beliefs without at least learning what others belief. Maybe it's the innate fear of differing opinions?
