How's the process any different? Kahn was hired right before the draft, then waited until long after the draft to hire the assistant with the hot name.

Because Kahn drafted 3 point guards in the same draft and then hired a coach with a specialty in the triangle offense.
It never ceases to amaze me why someone would willingly seek out another fanbase just to argue their own points. They're never going to convince anyone that they're right. Maybe it's the innate need to be heard apart from their own fandom. <shrug>
