I'm going to get a little philosophical for a second ... Aside from Popovich, aren't all coaches interim?

Wasn't the same said about Sloan?
It may have been 20 years, but 20 years is barely a blip on the geologic time scale.
Well, on that scale the Portland Trail Blazers are temporary. So is the planet. So is the galaxy.
But I still hope the Blazers hire a good coach.

Talk about nonsense. This reminds me of those pictures on the back cover of Highlights magazines, where the kids were supposed to find as many things as possible that were wrong.
- PA bought the blazers in 1988; 24 years is not "nearly three decades"
- Blazers have been over the cap nearly every year
- PA is estimated to have lost over $1B on his ownership of the Blazers
- The Blazers made the playoffs for the first 16 years of PA's ownership, and have only been last in the division once (05-06)--clearly not "wallowing in and out of the cellar".
2.4 is nearly 3, unless you want to nitpick.
Blazers have not been over the cap "nearly every year".
PA has not lost a penny with the Blazers, only local businesses he refused to pay have (through a laughable bankruptcy).
The Blazers have not been a competitive team by any stretch of the imagination since the jailblazers were disbanded.
Mathematically 2.4 would round to 2, not 3.
Please define competitive. Is it a Conference Finals team? A playoff team? A +.500 team? Competitive is not a scientific term and is open to interpretation.
In less than 1 year it will be 2.5 and will round to 3, hence "nearly".
I define competitive as having a chance to win the title.
One and done is not competitive by most people's definition.
Is Mrs. HCP part of the interview panel/Hiring Committee?Maybe they're going to hire a coach based on who has the most stamina? Interesting approach.
So, will they decide now who gets to talk to PA?
Thanks for clearing that up. I thought it might be something like that. After they give out the roses at the end of the episode, they hire a helicopter to fly out to Britain. There, hunky diving instructors put our bachelorettes in skintight wetsuits and tell them to swim to Paul's yacht. The first one there gets a candlelit dinner with The Bachelor.
