Certainly not the opinion I share, but it doesn't matter because he is going to get a max deal whether I like it or not. I just hope it's not us. Inconsistent, immature, injured knees.... yuck

Has he ever had knee surgery?

Pat Riley said that Hassan Whiteside hasn't reached his ceiling yet.

"He’s 26 years old, he’s a game changer. I don’t think he’s even reached his real ceiling in a couple of areas of the game," Riley said. "And I think that now he’ll be more comfortable once his situation ends." Riley has said that Whiteside will be the Heat's No. 1 priority this offseason, but the big man will likely be a first-round pick in fantasy next season regardless of where he lands in free agency.

Yes. He has had surgery on the knee he didn't hurt this season

OK I see it now....2011

"Sacramento Kings’ center Hassan Whiteside underwent successful surgery this morning at the UC Davis Medical Center to repair a partially torn patellar tendon in his left knee. Dr. Richard Marder performed the surgery.
Whiteside will miss four to six months of action and should be available by the start of the Kings’ 2011-12 Training Camp.

The ONLY reason I'd take Howard instead is because I think you MAY be able to get him on a shorter contract. He doesn't excite me either. Personally I'd rather get Monroe and a vet min guy who can help protect the rim.

I'll be excited if we get Whiteside because whether or not I think he is overrated, he is still a big name FA.

Biyombo would probably be my preference. Lesser of all evils

Monroe/Biyombo would probably be doable.

He has?

Drafted Leonard, offered max to Monroe.
Yes, I believe he has. If you look at all his transaction more of them have been good or even great than bad. If 100% accuracy is your standard then you will always be disappointed.

At least it wasn't a meniscus #boneonbone

I'm starting to think that free agency in this age of funny money should mean the following strategy:
Step 1: offer max to genuine stars (offensive and/or defensive, so Whiteside would count)
Step 2: (when step 1 fails) sign a bargain basement Aminu type.

No offering the max to players who will never deserve it (looking at you Harrison Barnes, Chandler Parsons) or who may have once deserved it but not any more (Howard, Noah). Fuck that noise.

I think the fact that Pat Riley likes him......is enough.

I think he's been lucky, more than good.

The guy I like that will come cheap he is rim protector he good out up to 18 feet he is 6'10" play over seas he is udoh. There 6 NBA team that what him plus 2 oversea team. He is 29 years old was draft by Golden State number 6 in 2010.

I mean lucky guys haven't signed here that he wanted

I don't think he has been that bad.

He tried to sign Hibbert in 2012. He was an All-Star in 2013-2014. He was All-NBA in 2014. All-Defense in 13-14. He's trash now, but he was very productive for two years after that offer that we almost made. I think something broke him mentally (supposedly Paul George fucking his girl).

He tried to sign Hawes to an MLE contract. Obviously Hawes hasn't done well in LAC or Charlotte, but I still think he'd do well in our system. An MLE contract is nothing.

He tried to sign Kanter. That dude was tearing it up in the playoffs.

He tried to sign Monroe. You yourself said you wouldn't mind adding Monroe this summer. I think he's a decent player.

This is a huge one. He was being killed on this board and was completely vindicated with how big of an impact he had on OKC this season. Plus the max deal look really reasonable in this new cap era.

Neil is solid as hell so far.

For a rebuilding team with not much cap space during some of those years, it's not too bad. He's hit home runs with Lillard, CJ and Lopez. Solid doubles with Harkless and Plumlee.

This is the off season for his legacy in Portland though. This is the most attractive situation in terms of luring a FA in a long time.
While he officially picked Lillard, Dame was the pick for us before Neil even got here

Most attractive situation EVER for a FA to come to PDX. Well, since we signed Rod Strickland in '92, coming off a Finals appearance.

In all of 18 mpg for the playoffs, 12 mpg against the Warriors. Woo woo.
(For comparison, Dion Waiters averaged more than 9 mpg more than Kanter. Dion Waiters.)

I can't believe I'm sticking up for Kanter, but his minutes in the Thunder series should have been more. Donovan was very conservative and it obviously killed them in the end. Kanter should have had more of a chance against the GS small lineup. He was excellent against the Spurs and Mavs.

Credit to the scouts for all the draft picks. But, unfair or not, the GM ulitmately gets the credit or the blame.

I personally wouldn't have blamed Neil for picking Lillard, so I won't give him credit either

Re: Kanter. Everyone piled scorn on Orlando for the Ibaka trade, and maybe deservedly, but Ibaka was the perfect complement to their big shambling white guys, and their smallball center when they went on huge runs. But now they have Ibaka, Sabonis and maybe also McGary who are very lead-footed and can't be played together. And Adams, although he's great, is not a threat to score away from the basket, so if you're going to play him and Kanter together, you probably park Kanter out by the 3 point line taking away one of his greatest strengths in rebounding. I predict he looks even worse of a bargain next year.

So was Leonard also already officially picked?
I was trying to remember, but I don't think so.

I thought I remembered reading and or hearing that they asked Lillard who he liked, and Lillard said Leonar_. And THAT was led by Neil Olshey.

Please don't get me wrong, he's not close to a bad GM. I just think some people think his shit doesn't stink, and there is definitely an odor

Sure, but it's the odor of roses, right?
