Can someone explain why Directv league pass has the ability to show the broadcasts from both teams, but 75% of the time when Portland is playing they only show the opposing teams broadcast?

Maybe HCP can poke his fat head around and find that out?

I called Directv, and they were clueless.

Idk, the broadband version or whatever it is that you get on the Roku has the option for the Blazer broadcasts (it's blacked out here now though)

Good question. I do not have Direct TV, I have Time Warner here in LA and it pisses me off. I like to listen to the opposing broadcast team if we are winning, but I hate it when we are losing. 50-50 would be fine. But Like you say the last two years has been more like 75%. I would like to know how they decide as well.

The nights that are not as busy, I do get the option to choose either or both. But those nights are few and far between.

The all do this. DirecTV, Dish even Comcast. League pass is always blacked out at home games.

Yeah it's pretty frustrating at times. Since I'm a homer, I want to watch my homers call the games. Unfortunately 60% of them are broadcasted on the other broadcast.

I really don't know the answer but I wish they changed it

Blackout restrictions

If a local team is playing and the game is televised in the home market, the associated feed on League Pass is blacked out and unavailable for viewing.

Per the NBA.com website: “Games will also be blacked out when they are appearing on national television. This applies to games being televised on ABC, ESPN, Fox Sports, TNT and NBA TV. You may view these games simply by switching to the designated channel.”

Carriage controversies

As of August 2013, the channel is unavailable on DirecTV and Dish Network. DirecTV and Dish Network maintain that Comcast is negotiating in bad faith. For example, on one hand Comcast argues that the channel must be on a lower tier with the most customers.[9] At the same time, Comcast argues that non-Comcast-owned sports channels should be shown only on a sports tier.[10] The Trail Blazers are said to be frustrated and disappointed by the conduct of Comcast over their contract with CSN.[11]

The Consumer Protection Committee of the Oregon House of Representatives held a hearing on February 24, 2010 to help get the channel on DirecTV, Dish Network and Charter Communiations. No one from DirecTV, Dish Network, or the Trail Blazers attended.[12]

On June 21, 2010, the Trail Blazers asked the Federal Communications Commission to require Comcast to make Trail Blazers games available to competing multichannel programming distributors such as DirecTV and Dish Network.[13]

One Oregon cable company, Canby Telcom, has objected to the additional annual charge in excess of $32 being required to be charged per customer in 2012 and has announced plans to stop carrying the channel.[14] Canby Telcom President Keith Galitz is quoted as saying "That's just too steep an increase for us, and it's not in line with inflation or normal escalation of prices in the industry."[14] Canby Telcom had announced plans to discontinue the channel as Comcast had offered a non-negotiable fee increase that would bring the annual per subscriber charge to over $32.[14] Canby Telcom has accused Comcast of raising rates way beyond the rate of inflation and industry-wide increases.[14] Clear Creek Television, which carried the Trail Blazers for 15 years, was rebuffed when even attempting to negotiate the above-market rate Comcast pushed at Clear Creek.[14]

"Comcast clearly sees the public perception of its treatment of sports fans as a potential Achilles heel in efforts to acquire NBCU", said Sports Fan Coalition Executive Director Brian Frederick, discussing how Comcast sent senior staff members to Oregon when a member of the Sports Fan Coalition testified before the Oregon Legislature on Comcast's denial of access to hundreds of thousands of customers of DirecTV, Dish, and other cable operators.[15]

In a November 7, 2010 article, Blazers CEO Larry Miller continued to express frustration about the lack of availability.[16]

Thank you, but again.....not my question. I don't live in Portland, and the game isn't blacked out, it's not even an option for viewing.

but MM, you have to understand, the games are blacked out.

On a somewhat related note, has anyone else experienced Portland broadcasts looking awful on LPBB so far?

The home teams' broadcasts actually look like HD while the Blazers' one has looked absolutely shitty with lagging streams and horrible camera quality.

I do believe if you use frontier (Comcast) internet you can access CSNNW though your internet for like 9 buck a month?

The worst part about LP is their black out times. I know this is unrelated to the question, but it drives me nuts.

The game completed in Denver, and 3 hrs after that I was like "Well, I need to watch A blazers game, I'll try the PHX one." And it's still blacked out. From Wedensday. A full 51 hours after it was completed. The. Worst.

As for your question, It always seems to be hit or miss with some of the games. I know a GS game I wanted to watch the GS broadcast, but they didn't have it. I don't know WHY they do it though, as it makes no sense. the NBA has all the rights, so they should have every broadcast. However, it could be that maybe they are only available when on a specific channel. Say, when the Blazers are on CSN, they carry it, but on KGW, they don't. Though, now that I think about it, I don't think that's the case, since the KGW one from PHX is up. I really just don't know.

I assume that comcast channels get more hosed because they aren't playing ball with direct TV. If you've noticed, the games showing only the other team's broadcast is on FoxSports. All the comcast channels will get ex'd if they can just show fox.

I think that's HCP's fault.
