Blazer players complaining about defensive effort

Oh come on. MM has a point; Carlito did actually post something legitimately, and we did jump down his throat over it. I'll work to improve my posting habits if it'll get MM to stop bringing up posters more than the Blazers.

Whose fault is it that people don't take what carlito seriously? Notice that he wasn't posting much (if at all) during most of the season. But all the sudden they have a few so-so wins and a horrible loss, and he's trolling again.

There's a difference between someone going "you know, the teams defense is crappy, and they need to work on it" and "I told you all this was gonna happen! I was totally right, and you all are bunch of homers who can't see reality to save your lives!
Why didn't you believe me! I told you I'd shoot...I'll teach your grandmother to suck eggs! A fly marrying a bumblebee...."

Reputations are earned for a reason.

Minny exposed our dead legs, and even with dead legs, it was all they could do to hang on to win at the end. It'll take more than scouting to beat Portland once our shooters get some rest.

That's the thing. When you are a shooter, you need your legs to push the shot out. Most the shots all were short. Even Aldridge's shots in the first half were like 6" short to his normal shot.

So as the rubes celebrate, they almost lost the game on a very tired team.

This is what I'm thinking, the rep carries with it the reaction it's going to illicit. If someone like Mags starts a thread like this, then it'll be probably a much more basketball oriented discussion. If it's someone like Carlito or OdenIsStillGod, it'll be "mocked". And those posters really have nothing to gripe about, because it's the reputation they presented, whether "realistic" or not in actuality, it doesn't matter.

Snap, post #4000 and it's got big words and such.

True, but I think the overall point here is that none of us involved are innocent. Carlito concern trolls a thread, people overreact (if they were smart, they'd un-hijack the conversation, or ignore him), and MM starts having flashbacks to the pitchfork and torch mobs from Frankenstein.

just poke fun.

I wish it were a true ignore, though. No options. lol.

He posted a tweet about a Blazer. That has nothing to do with taking him seriously or not.

For his efforts, he was called leach, mocked with pictures, etc.

In my defense, it was a dark time

when was the last time he posted a positive tweet, article, or fuck, said something positive about the team?

And a back handed compliment isn't positive. He's like the mom who says "you look good honey, if your goal is to not ever attract a man"

In an ideal world, we would have a backup PG who can defend and get assists, but is poor at offense. And a pack SG/wing probably like CJ who can score. I think our PGs defense is really our biggest defensive weakness.

Why does it matter when he posted something positive? (he did that same night, I believe)

The point is he posted a fact from a tweet regarding everyone's favorite team, and was ridiculed for it. You people should be ashamed. Ignore the post if you want, but don't lay into someone because you didn't like hearing about Aldridge, or more likely didn't like hearing it from him.

Would anyone had blinked an eye if Eric or mags posted that?

I am pretty confident this team has a rough ending to December. Minny exposed a lot about us last night. In fact I read somewhere minny scouted out three previous games. They basically showed the league how to destroy us. With the solid teams on tap.... It's gonna get ugly. Minny is the worst team we will face till January that's the scary part.

I just don't see it that way. Going .75 on a road trip is outstanding in my book, I'd take it every time.

The team looked completely fatigued from the tip off and I think they will CRUSH the T'Wolves next time they meet.

Why, is there a rule that he has to? Becoming a moderator is turning you into a bully.

There should be as many negatives in the universe as there are positives. Negative Nancies of the world, unite! Power to the people! Guillotine Julius!

It is simple start the season this way you develop expectations Matthews is a leader on this team and is right for calling out the team. They can win 60 games but giving up 110-120 points a night will get them rolled in the playoffs.

It was the fourth game in five nights against a rested team that had been heavily scouting us. This game didn't tell us anything we don't already know.

1) Lopez has trouble handling the best centers one on one. We saw it with Bynum and Pek on this trip. Stotts like's to single coverage, which makes this problem very obvious.

2) Our bench isn't very good. This is something we have seen in virtually every single game, so the only thing that was exposed here was that our bench was completely blown out of the water. Probably the worst performance of our bench this season.

FIFY...

Come on Wook.... Wright is stinking it up as well.
Yeah, but Wright stinks it up without going all Damon Dribblemeier and killing any offensive flow we may have. Plus, my expectations of Williams are MUCH higher than those of Wright...

I think Mo has been more destructive, but Wright has played pretty damn bad as well. All I want him to do is sit on the three point line. Is that so much to ask?

Agreed on both points.

We will soon learn how good Olshey actually is. So far, he has been graded on a curve. He managed to improve the bench from awful to sorta adequate, and he did it for a bargain price. Now he has a tougher job - turning the teams' hot start into legit contender status.

If he stands pat and says "we accomplished enough for this season" I will be very disappointed.

I won't, because I think the team as constructed still has room for internal growth and improvement. Sure, I'm on the "trade for Hawes" bandwagon, but if it doesn't happen, I'm still excited to see how the team will develop, even without any changes. And I don't think a lack of additional moves necessarily signals complacency; it could simply mean that there was nothing available to improve the team for a reasonable cost.

I understand what you are saying - but history has taught us to never take success for granted. There was a time during the Nate/KP regime when internal growth and improvement was taken as a given by many fans. A year from now we could be sitting at .500 and wondering why we didn't strike while the iron was hot.

If the Blazers are going to be successful in the playoffs, they have to get better defensively.

Defense is a lot about effort, so I'm not overly concerned about the game with Minny, but I am concerned about Blazer defense in general.

Carlito saying Minny figured out and exposed the Blazers is almost as funny as MM leading a sympathy campaign for Carlito. MM is the speaker and protector for those oppressed on this board!

Maybe this has been said, but the only thing Minny proved is that sometimes you can leave our shooters wide open and not get 139 hung on you.

I don't think SAS/OKC/MIA/others will be employing the "we'll let you miss open 3pointers all night long" strategy, but I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express this morning.
