Do you think Collins can average 20/10 in his prime?

Depends on who he's playing with at the time. If he's the 1st, or maybe the 2nd option, yes. If he's the 4th option playing behind 3 other all stars, then no. Only 1 basketball.

I'm more excited to see how he can do on the defensive end than on offense. Whether he's averaging 20 points or not is less important to me than playing good defense and scoring efficiently. I've wanted us to add solid 2-way players at the 3 and 4 spots forever. I'm hoping that's what we will have in Collins.

They compared him to Bill Laimbeer (Collins is MUCH more athletic). I'd be fine with that type of player - especially next to Dame and C.J. Laimbeer never averaged more than 17.5 ppg, but was a key piece to two championships, was a 4-time all star, led the league in rebounding and played hard nosed defense.

If he can be Bill Laimbeer I will gladly say I was wrong. I cant wait to see him in summer league

If Collins reaches his potential and is a Poor Man's Love, you all are going to be on your knees licking his balls within four years. Neil hit a potential home run. There are dip shits out there on reddit who still think Meyers needs another year.... and we gave that schmuck 10 mill a year! Collins doesn't deserve to be compared to Meyers just because of skin tone.

I wouldn't even say "poor mans" because he's a much better defender than Love and is 3 to 4 inches taller.

BTW, Laimbeer was a 4-year college player at Notre Dame, 23 years old as a rookie and didn't start until near the end of his second season.

As long as Collins contributes at both ends and shows progress, I'm fine with him not starting right away.

I hate to use the word upside, but Collins has way more potential than Laimbeer ever did. The comparisons to Laimbeer come from the fact that he's a big man that can shoot, plays hard nosed defense and has a mean streak - and he's white.

Collins will get pushed around by bigger, stronger players until he fills out a little, but he will also be more athletic and more skilled than most of those older, stronger players.

Hey man, I've only seen like 5 games of Gonzaga's where Collins got significant playing time. I don't know what his comps are.

We agree on a lot but every time I watch John Collins, I think he may be the worst defender in college basketball. (In the voice of Bill Walton)

I was talking about Zach. I agree, John Collins is an awful defender.

just got in from doing a gig, fire up espn to check the picks, im like "JJ at 15, ok, 3 and d guy, i can get behind that, maybe he busts out. then i see giles at 20 im like OK! swinging for the fences!"

then i open up here and see this shit.

That was a pick that Portland might have had a shot at.

Now OG is gone who I was hoping would fall to #26.

You guys are nuts! Meyers is going to beast this kid and dunk on him first scrimmage.
