Blazers: 11th biggest payroll in West, 2nd best record in West

We've gotten off to fast starts before, only to come crashing back to earth. Not saying that will happen with this team, but people seriously need to calm down.

Just food for thought, we started out the 2011-2012 season 7-2.

That was the Crawful, GWall, Felton season.

Again, not saying that this team is even remotely like that one, but we just need to take it easy and enjoy the moment.

God that year was so rough. From riding high after beating the Lakers, Thunder, and Clippers to that night at MSG where we lost by like 40+. Too many vets can be a very bad thing.

Too many mercs can be a bad thing. Pus, Felton pulled a Kemp and came into camp out of shape. We were still reeling from Roy "retiring," and the players started tuning out McMillan. Just a bad all-around year for this team. Again, not comparing our guys to that horrible roster, but just pointing out that you can't get overly optimistic after only 8 games.

It was hard watching Felton/Crawful play those opening games. We may have won but they both looked fairly out of sync.

I can because I was overly hyped since before training camp.

How are we 11th in payroll when we're paying Brandon Roy 17+M this year? I mean, our cap number may be 11th, but...there's a slight difference.

Man, for that kinda dough B-Roy should be a mascot at the games.

Before I get accused of being a pessimist, I will say that I am pleasantly surprised by the way the team is playing.

That said, I still think the defense is way below average and the team is far too reliant on three point shots going in without much of an inside presence with LMA drifting farther and farther away from the hoop as Stotts tries to turn him into some kind of Dirk Diggler clone. It's those sort of things that are likely to show up in the record as the season goes on if it's not addressed and improvements made quickly.

But for now ... I'm glad to see some cohesion and I'd much rather see Thomas Robinson and Robin Lopez instead of Leonar_ and Hickson.

Yeah good point. I'm sure Paul Allen doesn't consider it the 11th payroll when sends Roy a half million dollar check every week. I'd be extremely pissed at Roy if I was Allen; his 5 games he played in Minny cost the team something like $40 million in insurance money.
