Blazers after Greg Monroe

I told you guys there was something fishy about the timing of that leak. I think the Blazers leaked it because they wanted to be able to justify to the fans that they at least tried to re-sign him before dealing him.

Well you also guaranteed LaMarcus would leave last summer so I believe your speculation regarding him is horse shit.

Well Batum does have a big salary to match other big names and I think he is a player other teams would be happy to get even at his contract price.

But I don't see the Blazers trading anyone in the starting 5 this year unless it's a huge upgrade. Is Monroe a huge upgrade to Lopez? And how do you replace a Batum with the MLE?

What if they gave up Trob in a deal to get him? He could back up both big positions.

Maybe the Blazers felt due to being totally quiet during the draft, they would/will hit out of the park in free agency. Hence the targets.

Maybe just maybe that was the plan after all. It woulnd't surprise me if Allen has asked them to go for it.

David Falk represents Greg Monroe. He represented Danny Ferry and they're still close. Execs pointed this out when discussing Monroe to ATL.

Falk is also Hibbert's agent, and really respected the way we handled those negotiations, and how it would come around for us.

As for Monroe's defense, he doesn't block shots, but he's a really good man defender in the post.

Batum? (I thought Drummond was a PF for some reason) He's playmaker, in the right range to have "filler" around him in a deal, and was our lowest ranked starter in a role that is easyish to replace (Parsons?)

SG and SF are the scarcest positions in the league. The easiest position to replace is PG followed by PF.

Interesting. Awhile back I had thought of trading LaMarcus (for a SG like Affalo), then signing Greg Monroe as a free agent. Not sure what we'd do with both Monroe and LA though?

I would rather have batum than Monroe.

Yup. I said that I thought he'd be gone because at that time we hadn't signed any free agents yet, and we had just come off a very shitty season in which Aldridge was extremely unhappy. I did not think this team would win 54 games and make it to the second round of the playoffs at that time. Of course, after Neil made his moves I changed my tune and I predicted that we would finish 4th or 5th (which we did) and that we would probably win in the low 50's (which we did).

My prediction was predicated on our team being horrible, and I underestimated Neil. He proved me wrong, and now Aldridge seems happy and wants to re-sign.

Good call about Falk. I remember him saying those things.

Aldridge, Monroe, Batum would be dynamic. Spurs-like. If sign-and-trade for Monroe didn't include Batum.

SF is easy. Are you 6'5" - 6'10"? Can you hit a three? Are you not the slowest man on the court? You're a SF.
There are no SGs so it literally doesn't matter what you put on the court. Another PG? A skinny SF? Who the fuck cares anymore?

Besides, we have Barton, in whom I have some faith.

If we brought in Monroe without moving Rolo, I don't see how we could keep both long term. Monroe's contract would end up being pretty big, and Rolo is up for a new deal next summer. Can't pay a backup center a ton of money.

Yet all sorts of random unrelated news leads you to believe LaMarcus wants to be traded? You have some sort of deep rooted subconscious need to formulate a premises of Aldridge wanting to be traded. No idea why your brain works this way; its as odd to me as some of permafried jplk reasoning.

Very likly not, but you deal with that next summer. If ROlo has another good year, at the very least we have S&T capabilities with a top 10ish young C that could help push our team further along.

Portland seems to have a line w/agent David Falk. When Hibbert & the Pacers reached an impasse, Portland gave Roy a max sheet. Indy matched

Crabbe could be a 3D guy at SF eventually.

6'6" | 6'11.25" wingspan | 8'8" reach

He has the size. Neil is high on the guy.

I never said I believed it. I was hypothesizing. Why do you feel the need to attack me personally over this?

Not at all intending to mock Nate with this commment, so hope no offense is taken Nate, generally with a lot of theories and conspiracies, people begin to see links and connections where there really isn't, or read far to much into a connection because it fits with their underlying belief, and generally disregard anything to the contrary.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Rolo doesn't seem like the type to get pissed at a demotion, at least I hope not.
