So ORL could sign him outright, but both us and ATL would have to do S&T? Is that correct? Any rumors what ATL is offering?

Also, what's Monroe's max look like? Is it one of those 5/60 deals? Or is it more?

Can only be 4 years, not 5. But I think that's roughly it.

Atlanta has space also to sign him outright.

That's all I got as I check around for rumors.

Pretty sure you have this analyzed right. I see Monroe being in the drivers seat . . . "trade me to Portland or I sign with Orlando". Falk and Olshey like each other and if Monroe wants to come to Ptd and Ptd is willing to pay, they can figure a way to get it done.

I think the biggest hurdle is if Orlando wants to offer more money than what the Blazers will offer, Monroe (and Falk) are likely going to go with Orlando . . . and I don't want to see the Blazers get into a serious bidding war with Orlando.

Max is around 13.5mil.

Detroit doesn't necessarily want to lock into max money on a guy yet when they are still trying to figure out a core. Druimmond and Monroe are not a great match. But Monroe and Aldridge would be dang good together... and he's only 24 so he and Dame could be a new core going forward.

Do it! Monroe @ $13.5m and 23yo > LMA @ $20m and 28yo.
So much flexibility for building this team if we obtain Monroe without giving up a starter!

I like Monroe because I look at him as insurance. But I wouldn't do the trade if they want a starter. I would do Robinson, CJ, and Leonard.

I think Detroit would rather do a deal with Portland than let him go to orlando or Cleveland for nothing.

And this is why it would be silly to think we would HAVE to give up a starter. Unless another team comes in from out of the blue and offers up a really good starter, I think a package built around CJ is quite decent for a team that lost nearly all of their negotiating power.

Yup. Then it's just a matter of whether he actually wants to come here.

Guys, this is just a ploy by Monroe's agent to get more buzz on Monroe. I would say there is about a 5% chance that this is even an option.

I don't see why not, we're probably the best team going after him.

He would start for ORL, right? So while we'd be the best team he'd have a bigger role there.
What's up with Millsap - would Monroe come off the bench there?

Monrroe would start here too... on a playoff team alongside 2 all stars... BTW wasnt he an all star

He would start here. Rolo would have to come off the bench.

Yeah, you wouldn't pay a guy the max to be a bench player.

So it is a safe presumption that Monroe is getting a max contract from some team?

Yes. He's going to get maxed. Especially if he's still on the board after Melo, LBJ, and the other heavy hitters are signed. Some desperate team will max him (see Houston Rockets).

I said before that one option would be trading LA and signing Monroe. I just find it interesting that this is coming out now.

LA for Wiggins and Monroe to replace him?

No way Cleveland trades us wiggins, even for Aldridge!
