I think Nurk and Whiteside on the floor together is more of an experiment. I would be shocked if they play long stretches together during the 8 games. Z and Melo see a lot of time at the 4 Is my guess
I think it can work if plays are designed where Nurk facilitates a pass to Hassan in the low post., or vice versa. They did it one time, and Hassan shot a balloon up. But i could see that working. Got to finish those.

Good effort, but the lack of a "Dead Eye Dick" off the bench is a real problem. That Thomas dude for them is that kind of shooter. We need to find that kind of shooter. Difference in the game. They're making their open 3's.
Trent?

He is just having a good game. He wont play near as well against teams that actually play defense
Hey CC, i tend to disagree. He lead all rookies in 3 pt.% When he was open he hit them. We had players open, and they bricked them. We need a quality shooter off the bench. GT has a chance, but he has to become more consistant. Ant's shooting form is quirky. He kind of shoots a chest pumper. Some guys (Thomas) just can shoot the rock.

Well there a lot we need to fix before I would consider us a playoff contender. That's even with Dame on the floor. I know these are practice games but not hitting on our 3's and then not getting back in transition and picking up ball and get burn on 3 that shows me big losses when the games start happening. Nobody shot the ball except CJ but besides that Nurk had big game Zach look better in the 2nd half. Melo had his moments. Whiteside except the first couple minutes became pretty much a no show.

Is it just me or does Hoard always looks like he belongs out there?

Dame is the elixir. His talents come through when it matters most. You can doubt him, but he continues to make doubters look like fools.

This is the reason why I don't think Whiteside works with Nurk. This also what happened in Miami that's Whiteside needs involve in the offense and that's why the first couple minutes he was fine. But when that stop happening he kind disappeared altogether. Here guy that was one top rebounders and he got 5. He couple blocks that's why I thnk he better off the bench replacing Nurk so he more in the offense play. Zach he except the role that he not going get shots but he still work hard out on both ends.

No doubt but I am really talking about the defense end and if we are not making shots we are in trouble. I thought overall our defense was pretty good but got do that for 48.

Sidenote: that Matt Thomas guy who reminded me of Sergio was annoyingly good. Made me Google him. Raptors signed him out of the Spanish League (where he had the nickname "Mr 99%" because he had an EFG% of 99 on unguarded catch-and-shoots.

Defensively we shouldn't be this bad, but here we are. Granted we're breaking in an entirely new team from last season, Zach missed all but three games this year, and who would have predicted Carmelo Anthony, Wenyen Gabriel, and Trevor Ariza would be playing rotational minutes at any given point this season? I understand a lot of great defense comes from chemistry and knowing each other's strengths and this team has no had that luxury.

With all of that said, I'm still seeing a lot of fundamental breakdowns on defense that shouldn't happen regardless of chemistry. Too many times did we overrun a closeout, leave a hot shooter to help out (i.e.: Matt Thomas), and fail to box out on long rebounds (which is primarily the type of rebound that will happen from a long-range attempt).

Portland must tighten things up defensively if we're going to make a push for the playoffs.

How the fuck did we lose a scrimmage to the defending champs without our best player? Inexcusable.

We were pretty much without him last game too
