Our best starting lineup advantage is obviously Aldridge. But, our best overall advantage over the Rockets will be our depth.

Roy vs. Battier/Artest. As good of defenders as Battier and Artest are, Roy is much superior to both. He needs to outplay both of them for us to win. I have no doubt he will.
But why do teams shorten their rotation in the playoffs? Because their starters are so much better than their bench, and the playoffs are so important (and the summer potentially so close) that they need to ride the starters harder.
In that light, I don't think we need to shorten our rotation much - we've got a great bench with at least three players who would start on other teams (Greg, Rudy, Travis). So play them as usual, and our starters will be fresher against their starters.
Advantage Portland.
if that's true(i don't really agree that it is), then the blazers could be in some trouble. the rockets have a pretty good bench with lowry, wafer, and landry being the main guys. hayes and mutombo provide a defensive presence which will probably be needed against aldridge and oden and barry adds some extra shooting.Agreed. The Blazers don't win this series unless their bench clearly out-plays the Rockets' bench.
Our biggest advantage is our Bench.. if Outlaw, Rudy, Sergio and Oden bring it..we win this series.
When our bench is playing well - Teams just can't handle our depth...
Portland wins in 6.

i wouldn't count on the blazers bench significantly outplaying the rockets bench to make the difference in the series.
I don't follow. You think Roy vs. Battier/Artest is to the Rockets' advantage, just as it is with the Joel/Oden vs. Yao matchup? Hell, we might as well not show up to play if that was the case. As I said, Roy will have to (not just, but totally) outplay his matchup at SG. Whether it is scoring 40 points with 2 assists or 4 points with 15 assists and 10 rebounds, Roy will have to dominate his man for us to advance. Yao will do his damage against whoever we match up with him. Roy will have to do the same against them.
Do I think Battier/Artest will defend Roy better than most wingmen in the league? Absolutely. Do I think that Roy will outplay both of them? Absolutely. Just because Battier/Artest are more competent at defending Roy than most players, it doesn't make it so that they'll outplay Roy.
So to answer your question: Yes, I do think it is a good matchup for us, simply because Roy will outplay them. Roy might have his way more with other players defending him, but he'll still be superior to both Battier/Artest when matching up against them. I'm looking at our production at SG (with Roy) vs. whoever Houston will play at SG. This is a position where I think we will outproduce them simply because Roy is better than anyone Houston has at this position.
To clarify further: Kobe vs. Roy would be a bad matchup for us. Wade vs. Roy would be a bad matchup for us. Any other SG vs. Roy would be a good matchup for us.

Our biggest advantage: Rose Garden vs. Toyota Center. No Contest.
I'm worried about the quickness of Brooks, and his outside shooting over Blake. Last time IIRC he killed Blake. When Brooks drives, he'll cause the D to collapse which can easily cause us to not play the bigs as well.
But it happened last time we played and it happened again...I'm quoting myself, because, well I was right....
Brooks a 2 year PG killed us. Destroyed our defense. How can this be?....But it happened last time we played and it happened again...
Lets hope we can stop him Tuesday.
trying to establish that greg oden guy to force yao to worry about his man defensively might help the blazers as well.If LaMarcus doesn't show up again and score at least 20 points, we're done. He is one guy we need to establish a post presence against Scola/Landry.
