PORTLAND, Ore. (October 29, 2019) – With their 50th Anniversary season underway, the Portland Trail Blazers have announced a limited-edition collectors vinyl album, “Blazers Greatest Hits – 50th Collection”, featuring seven unique Trail Blazers songs that have played a part in helping to shape the fandom of the franchise. Produced by Dutch Records, the limited-edition album is a tribute to some of the most popular songs inspired by the Trail Blazers throughout the five decades.

The album, which goes on sale at the November 2 Blazers game exclusively at Rip City Clothing Co. at the Rose Quarter, features favorites including “Can I Get a Headband?” with vocals from Trail Blazers greats Bonzi Wells and Damon Stoudamire, as well as “Bust a Bucket” with appearances from superstars Terry Porter, Kevin Duckworth, Jerome Kersey and Buck Williams which sold over 30,000 cassettes. It also includes a special remix of the Trail Blazers Theme Song recorded by local Grammy-winning band Portugal. The Man. See full track list below. Every album purchase comes with a free digital download of all seven songs.

The Trail Blazers 50th Anniversary season, presented by your local Toyota dealers and Spirit Mountain Casino, will feature five decade themed nights throughout the season to relive moments from Trail Blazers history and to honor each decade of Trail Blazers basketball, starting with ‘70s night on November 2. Every decade night will feature alumni from their respective eras, a free decade-specific art print giveaway to all fans in attendance, and special retail items and activations specific to the decade will be available before and during the game. The team will also wear the special Classic Edition uniforms at each of these home games. The decade night schedule is below:

  • ‘70s night: Saturday, November 2 vs. Philadelphia
  • ‘80s night: Friday, December 20 vs. Orlando
  • ‘90s night: Sunday, January 26 vs. Indiana
  • ‘00s night: Sunday, February 23 vs. Detroit
  • ‘10s night: Tuesday, March 10 vs. Phoenix

Fans attending ‘70s night at the November 2 game can purchase the album for the first time at Rip City Clothing Co. during the game, and fans can visit the store to purchase the album 11am – 4pm Tuesday through Saturday starting November 5. All net proceeds from the record will go to the Trail Blazers Foundation, which positively impacts the lives of children and families who have been historically underserved where they live, learn and play.

Agreed. Why is that version the version they picked? No one I know prefers that version, or hell, even likes it or knows it.

This?

Yes. That version isn't good compared to the original. If we wanted to celebrate the Blazers sucking up to the fans (thats what that whole time period was about), then yeah...but it's about what made the Blazers the Blazers to fans. And that version ain't it.
