It's time to start taking out some of the trash. Our bench was horrible.

Layman is the LEAST useful of the three!Keep Layman
did we keep Layman?Layman is the LEAST useful of the three!
Good. Maybe people will stop telling me I look like his older, less-athletic uncle.
And the cheapestLayman is the LEAST useful of the three!
and it looks like we kept him - don't know whyAnd the cheapest
It says "become" guaranteed, not "became." The deadline for Jake is tonightand it looks like we kept him - don't know why
Bobby Marks: A couple of contacts that become guaranteed on Saturday: Isaiah Whitehead ($1.4M), Tyler Ulis ($1.5M), Ivica Zubac ($1.5M), Rodney McGruder ($1.5M), Cole Aldrich ($6.9M) and Jake Layman ($1.5M)
are you sure its tonight and wasn't 12:00 last might? It says "become" guaranteed, not "became." The deadline for Jake is tonight
I think you are correct as I just found this:It says "become" guaranteed, not "became." The deadline for Jake is tonight
He can play on our SL roster even if we don't pick up his option.I believe Jake is on our SL roster.
The one caveat is Layman, who will have to his has contract for next season picked up by June 30 lest he become an unrestricted free agent. It is still possible Layman plays for the Trail Blazers at summer league even if the team doesn't pick up his option.
I hope not. Layman hasn't shown anything in the game time he's received to even warrant the #15 spot on the roster.I predicted Bazz and Pat would be gone and they'd keep Layman....I think it's why he's in the gym during every workout video all summer....Layman, Biggie, Zach, Baldwin all have been working out together...I expect them all back...Layman has great fundamental skills, is strong and hopefully gets his shot confidence where it needs to be although....he's a 3rd stringer anyway
Layman is way bigger than Pat...and his lower core is strong ...his shooting form is textbook...he just needs to make the leap ...for a big like him the 3rd season is usually when they get it....his defense is decent...as a project I think he's worth another 15th spot unless we need the spot for a proven vet. We don't know what these guys do improvement wise outside of NBA games...he hasn't played much in those..we need cheap contractsI hope not. Layman hasn't shown anything in the game time he's received to even warrant the #15 spot on the roster.
Even as a 'developing prospect' his best case scenario is a very poor man's Barton.
If much rather have Pat on a vet min contract
He can play on our SL roster even if we don't pick up his option.
Last I heard about Cliff Alexander he was playing in Israel or someplace...he didn't exactly light up the NBA...sort of like Craig "The Rhino" Smith....another guy who will be a tough trivia pursuit sports question....Olshey did the same with Cliff Alexander.
3rd stringers are what they are....3rd stringers...guys who play when you're up 40 pts or down 40 pts in the 4th qtr..think of Layman as company for Meyers at the end of the pineWhen they write the 800-page biography "The Olshey Story" a 50-page chapter will be devoted to Layman, and another to Connaughton.
Olshey's whole life is a series of lazily keeping players far beyond their useful lives.
You should definitely write the Trader Bob story....I want an autographed copy! When they write the 800-page biography "The Olshey Story" a 50-page chapter will be devoted to Layman, and another to Connaughton.

Yes - however those 3rd stringers should have some future potential or have some quality veteran leadership.3rd stringers are what they are....3rd stringers...guys who play when you're up 40 pts or down 40 pts in the 4th qtr..think of Layman as company for Meyers at the end of the pine
This I'm not sure about....looks like the team sees something we don't get to see about Layman...I'll bet he's back and we're young period..I expect 2 vets to get roster spots before the season ..probably bench players...2nd string needs the upgrade...3rd string is practice squadWe can upgrade from Layman.
